ain't no party like a murdergame afterparty, cw: some mentions of alcohol
[--cuz a murdergame afterparty is horrifying and sad and possibly a little threatening if Mahiro insists on bringing his gun with him, please don't do that buddy.
Honestly, guys, we're running out of cooks at this rate. But it's nice to gather after horrifying events, and so while Rosalind's cooking skills are absolutely terrible, her alcohol-pouring skills are a little better. Come have a glass of wine or three and ruminate on the fact that there's only fourteen of us left.]

He wanted a nap. He'd heading to do just that, or at least rest his head a little, when he spots Elliot's door ajar.
He pauses in his steps, peering through the gap with a frown.]
Elliot?
no subject
...Hey, Ayumu. [Like there's nothing wrong.] Wasn't expecting you back for a bit, ha ha...
no subject
[He frowns a little, pushing the door open slightly. Why was the key in the door.....? What was he doing with the bed?
There's concern in his voice when he speaks, glancing around at the room before looking at Elliot's face.]
Elliot.... what are you doing?
no subject
I dunno what I did to make the Goddess so angry, but you all don't deserve to have my punishments keep flowing over on to you all, you know?
[Elliot. That's the worst answer ever. Why are you like this.
Oh, right, because it's been a solid 5 weeks of all your friends dying. Right.]
no subject
The bed near the door, the door ajar-- The key in the door, so he could be found....
Oh Elliot.]
Elliot, no one's being punished in your place.
no subject
If it's not a punishment, it's a curse. And I'm done cursing you guys.
[That's all there is to it.]
no subject
[A 'curse' huh. He settles on the edge of the bed, patting it with a somber look.]
Elliot. Sit down.
no subject
There's nothing really to be said in response, so he remains quiet, staring hard down at the floor as if that will get him out of whatever's about to be said.]

[It's the harsh, aching truth of all of this. They could sit down and eat breakfast tonight, or hang out, or play music-- but the fact was at the end of the week, someone would likely give into temptation and kill. The motives were too much of a risk for some of them to withstand.]
Your presence alone doesn't ensure your friends will die-- this twisted game only means everyone, your friends included, will be potential targets. And that's something you'll have to accept.
[harsh??? Holy shit.] But.... You know what you do ensure?
no subject
[He's right. Of course he's right. It may be harsh, but it's true, and Elliot makes no attempt to deny any of it, merely sitting in silence through all of it.
It isn't until Ayumu asks a question of him that he raises his head to look at him.]
...what?
no subject
[He smiles at Elliot softly for just a moment.]
Fear and despair are powerful forces, and can crush even the strongest, most skilled person... but those things are easier to endure when you have companions. Life or death situations like these need people like you, Elliot. People here need your kindness, your friendship-- You remind people that there are those here who care, and give them a spot of light in the darkness.
[Elliot was probably one of the kindest souls out of all of them, and that in itself was precious.]
I've seen people crumble under the weight of loneliness and despair... people who couldn't handle the weight of impending tragedy because they were alone in dealing with it. But because you are so unwaveringly kindhearted, Elliot, you've done so much for everyone here just by being you.
no subject
...You... really think so? [He turns away, looking a bit lost in thought.] Then... is that why...
[Why, when the first motive was revealed, the vision he saw was his nation at war? He hadn't thought himself important enough to make that sort of change, and even now, that seems improbable at best. Still, in a weird way, it almost, almost makes sense. He still thinks Rean and the others would have pulled through without him, but for the first time, he's coming to see what sort of place he held in Class VII.]
...heh. [It may be odd, to laugh - however bitterly - in response to that, but there it is. He turns back to Ayumu with a bittersweet smile.] You know... sometimes, you really sound just like him, with speeches like that.
It's... still not really anything I can make sense of, to be honest with you. But... thanks, Ayumu. I'll try to see it that way, too. No promises on how well I'll do, but I'll try.
[He considers voicing the last thought he has - that Ayumu isn't much different, in this regard - but decides to keep that to himself, for now. Instead, he simply repeats his previous sentiment and leaves it at that.]
Thank you.

[He reaches up, patting Elliot on the shoulder lightly.
at least it's not a headpat?.]There's power in kindness. Not everyone has the strength and courage to be kind to people like you do-- it's something to be cherished. Maybe it's a little wishy washing sounding, but it's true.
[A pause, before he ventures, a little more hesitantly-- because he's terrible at this people thing, but the memory of a group of people back home gives him the words he needs.]
And if it's difficult to see it that way... try to think of how your friends see you. Trust their feelings for you, and trust that they'd want you to come back safe to them, no matter what.
no subject
But oh, hey. Shoulder pat. ...It's still close enough to a headpat to give Elliot some slight pause, but he tries to work past it.] Really, the only way you could sound more like him is if you could give speeches like this with a little more of a straight face, ha ha.
Anyway, it's... it's like I said. I'll try my best, but even thinking of it that way... it's not exactly easy to override everything you've always been telling you the exact opposite, you know?
But I'll do my best. For them. ...And for you.
[He offers Ayumu a tiny little smile - as genuine of one as he can manage.]
no subject
[He lets out a short laugh at that. This friend of Elliot's sounded like a regular cheeseball, to Ayumu.]
As long as you're trying, that's good enough I think. It's hard, thinking differently when you've thought the same way for what seems like forever. But the people around you can remind you of what you are capable of when you start to doubt.
[Goodness knows Hiyono would be the better choice to give Elliot this talk, given it was her specialty-- but he was Trying, ok.] Just do your best and you'll be fine.
no subject
[He sounds like a cheeseball? That's because he is!]
...Yeah. I mean, by now, you think I'd know that. [He sounds a bit guilty, now.] After all, you guys keep trying to remind me. Kinda makes it feel a bit worse when I keep slipping, you know? But... well. I'm not gonna get anywhere by holding myself to impossible standards.
