Beginning
One moment you were elsewhere, surely speaking to your friends, fighting in a battle of your life, dying, or even in a state of non-existence in its entirety. It doesn't matter now, since when you open your eyes it’s become clear that not only is everything around you foreign and unfamiliar, so is everyone. And there seems to be a fair lot of you, at that.
It's easy to discern a few things upon a cursory glance, once you pick yourself up from the field of grass you're resting on. The place you've awoken in seems to be fairly tranquil, for the first few moments at least, and the view of a newly budded sakura tree is among the first that will greet you. In the distance, is a towering castle that manages to look all at once both imposing and welcoming at the same time. There's also an odd pendant around your neck, which you'll find won't come off despite your best attempts. In your pocket you'll find a room key, engraved with a number.
The weather is currently cool, with the sun brightly shining in the sky, though there are a few too many clouds to make it a completely clear day. While most of them appear rather normal, every so often you might spot one that looks just a bit off— like a storm cloud that's completely lost it's way. Lucky for you, it doesn't seem like you're going to have to worry about any inclement weather anytime soon, as they'll vanish from your vision as quickly as they came.
A large stone wall surrounds the entirety of the castle, though it's anyone guess why that is— maybe it's for your safety, maybe it's to keep you trapped, or maybe it's for another reason entirely. The only breach in the wall is a single gate that looks like it certainly led to the outside at one point, but that too has been cordoned off by solid stone.
Fortunately, there's nothing to stop you from entering the castle itself, where you'll find it's pretty grand all things considered. The lighting inside is provided not by electricity, but by magical flame that adjusts to the time of day or night. Actually, if you're looking for anything electronic anywhere, or even a simple power outlet, you'll be sorely out of luck.
For now, it might be best to explore and make some sense of where you are and why you're here— maybe one of your fellow travelers might know something? There are some plaques in the Great Hall that might catch your interest given their focus, in addition to one ridiculously large golden one that seems to bear rules.
Welcome, fellow warriors, to your very long stay.

Roleplaying. You know, dressing up and pretending you're in some weird fantasy game or shit. I don't care what other people do on their own time, but this is a dumb place to do it unless you know where we are already.
no subject
[Say a pirate. He fucking dares you!
Okay, no not really, he just has an eyebrow raised as he's figuring out what on earth this accusations are for.]
no subject
Hell if I know what you're going for. It just looks like you're trying to look cooler than you really are.
no subject
I'm not trying to look 'cool' or anything. It's just an outfit that I'm comfortable with.
[with like four layers because that's a normal thing. Also probably because THE SEA IS FUCKING COLD. Then you have guys that wear an open shirt like Benwick...]
no subject
Is that right? Whatever, then. Anyways, I haven't seen your weird coin or anything like that around. All my crap's missing too.
no subject
Yes, that's right.
[A beat.]
So all your stuff's missing too, huh? I wonder if this might be the same for everyone, then.
no subject
[And while it might be worthwhile to inquire, he mostly just cares about his own stuff at the moment. He'll quirk an eyebrow at Eizen's wording though.]
Is that really everything you had on you? You don't even carry a cell phone or a wallet or anything?
no subject
[No really, what is that?
And he doesn't care about his gald, really. It's just his one coin and probably someone else handles their finances anyway since Eizen would lose it some way or another due to his horrendous luck.]
no subject
[Irritable sigh!! Fine, he'll play along.]
Do you know what a phone is?
no subject
[You kids and your newfangled technology that he has no clue what it is.]
What does a phone do?
no subject
Why is this happening to him.]
A phone lets you talk to people who're far away. A cell phone's just the portable version. Happy?
[because he sure ain't]
no subject
[His eyes widen in surprise because he's sure as hell has never heard of that!]
We typically use Sylphjays to send letters if we need them sent quickly. To be able to talk like that with someone would make information gathering more efficient.
no subject
[Except not quite, but he doesn't care enough to get into the details of reception and stuff... that would be playing along too much, in his opinion.]
Sylphjays? ...Is that supposed to be a bird?
[Oh no, is he saying they send messages by the fantastical equivalent of a pigeon...]
no subject
[He has no clue what that means, but okay. Well, it sounds like that means to end the conversation, so he'll go with that.]
And yes, Sylphjays are birds.
[YES, THEY HAVE PIGEON CARRIERS IN FANTASY LAND.]
no subject
[Guess how many times he's used the technique...! Although it's probably fewer than you'd expect, actually.]
I shouldn't even be surprised anymore. So these birds... what do they look like?
[He doesn't sound super invested in the topic and yet. And yet he's curious if it's just going to be the description of a mundane pigeon or if it's something cooler than that. How much creativity did he put into this whole thing...!]
no subject
[Then again, malak can sense other malak, so it's the same. Still, his descriptions such, but he can purple prose a bit...]
no subject
I got that they were birds and had bird features, thanks. I was asking if they looked like a pigeon or a chicken or something.
no subject
More like a pigeon, I think.
[...he thinks. Chickens look totally different.]
no subject
Then that's nothing special at all. You see those kinds of birds in cities all the time.
no subject
[He's curious. Maybe there's a similarity here? Who knows?]
no subject
no subject
What's a plane?
[WELL, YOU CAN JUST WALK AWAY FROM EIZEN IF YOU WANT TO, MAHIRO. HE IS JUST FILLED WITH 'DUMB QUESTIONS' TODAY.]
no subject
It's a kind of metal bird.
[Like so.]
no subject
[Even his world somewhat follows the laws of physics... then again, this kid talked about 'cell phones' and how you could talk to people from distances so...
Hm....]
