Beginning
One moment you were elsewhere, surely speaking to your friends, fighting in a battle of your life, dying, or even in a state of non-existence in its entirety. It doesn't matter now, since when you open your eyes it’s become clear that not only is everything around you foreign and unfamiliar, so is everyone. And there seems to be a fair lot of you, at that.
It's easy to discern a few things upon a cursory glance, once you pick yourself up from the field of grass you're resting on. The place you've awoken in seems to be fairly tranquil, for the first few moments at least, and the view of a newly budded sakura tree is among the first that will greet you. In the distance, is a towering castle that manages to look all at once both imposing and welcoming at the same time. There's also an odd pendant around your neck, which you'll find won't come off despite your best attempts. In your pocket you'll find a room key, engraved with a number.
The weather is currently cool, with the sun brightly shining in the sky, though there are a few too many clouds to make it a completely clear day. While most of them appear rather normal, every so often you might spot one that looks just a bit off— like a storm cloud that's completely lost it's way. Lucky for you, it doesn't seem like you're going to have to worry about any inclement weather anytime soon, as they'll vanish from your vision as quickly as they came.
A large stone wall surrounds the entirety of the castle, though it's anyone guess why that is— maybe it's for your safety, maybe it's to keep you trapped, or maybe it's for another reason entirely. The only breach in the wall is a single gate that looks like it certainly led to the outside at one point, but that too has been cordoned off by solid stone.
Fortunately, there's nothing to stop you from entering the castle itself, where you'll find it's pretty grand all things considered. The lighting inside is provided not by electricity, but by magical flame that adjusts to the time of day or night. Actually, if you're looking for anything electronic anywhere, or even a simple power outlet, you'll be sorely out of luck.
For now, it might be best to explore and make some sense of where you are and why you're here— maybe one of your fellow travelers might know something? There are some plaques in the Great Hall that might catch your interest given their focus, in addition to one ridiculously large golden one that seems to bear rules.
Welcome, fellow warriors, to your very long stay.

[ Asch gives Elliot a good look over. He doesn't want to bother looking into things so early on but he might as well give a bit of an effort to avoid being totally ignorant. ]
Tell me:
Which country did you come from?
no subject
[He's still feeling a little intimidated by this guy, but if he's trying to strike up a conversation, maybe he's safer than he's feeling?]
And you?
no subject
[ There's a short pause as his brows furrow. ]
I've never heard of this "Erebonia". You're not messing with me, are you?
no subject
[Aah, oh no, the intimidating guy looks angry -]
N-no! I... you mean you really haven't heard of the Erebonian Empire?
[Seriously, though, it's kind of. Huge.]
no subject
[ If anything, Asch feels a rising annoyance at all of this nonsense already. This is only adding to it. ]
If you've heard of neither, and you're telling the truth...then I wouldn't know what to make of this already irritating situation. But I sincerely doubt you couldn't know of any of those countries; it's impossible for you to be that ignorant.
[ He'll just wait to see what the other male says first, though. ]
no subject
Wish I could tell you otherwise, but no. Calvard, Crossbell, and Liberl... those, I know, but none of what you're saying.
And that's the truth. I promise.

For some reason he doubts that Elliot pulled those names out of his ass. But, it doesn't make much sense.
He'll stick around until he can make sense of this. ]
What's your name?
no subject
[He tries not to bow his head as he says that, actually meeting Asch's gaze.]
You?
no subject
[ ... Amazing, Elliot is the first person Asch has managed to introduce himself to here. That probably counts for something. ]
What's the last thing you remember before being brought here?
no subject
Last thing I remember was being at home, practicing on my violin. Next thing I knew, I was here on the grass.
no subject
[ Asch thinks it doesn't matter enough for him to hide that away from Elliot; he knows his fate anyway. ]
Whoever this is, they know what the hell they're doing. Another question for you:
You don't recognize this place, do you?
no subject
Seems like it... and no, this place is brand new to me. You, too, I'm guessing?
no subject
[ He'll begin to move forward. ]
We can't just stand around like a couple of idiots. It'd be best if we got acquainted with our surroundings.
no subject
R-right. Right behind you.
no subject
[ He sounds vaguely pleased; as pleased as he'll ever get tbh. ]
Don't fall behind. Take notice of anything odd or strange. Hopefully, we'll manage to miraculously stumble upon the fools responsible if we venture far enough.
[ He doubts it'll be that easy, but whatever. ]
no subject
[Maybe if he just keeps doing what the intimidating guy who fights soldiers says, he can stay on his good side? At least, so long as he isn't asking him for anything objectionable.]
no subject
[ Now he's his jerkish version of amused. ]
What, you do that often back at home?
no subject
[He's just trying to let Asch know he took his "advice" to heart, that's all!]
