Beginning

One moment you were elsewhere, surely speaking to your friends, fighting in a battle of your life, dying, or even in a state of non-existence in its entirety. It doesn't matter now, since when you open your eyes it’s become clear that not only is everything around you foreign and unfamiliar, so is everyone. And there seems to be a fair lot of you, at that.

It's easy to discern a few things upon a cursory glance, once you pick yourself up from the field of grass you're resting on. The place you've awoken in seems to be fairly tranquil, for the first few moments at least, and the view of a newly budded sakura tree is among the first that will greet you. In the distance, is a towering castle that manages to look all at once both imposing and welcoming at the same time. There's also an odd pendant around your neck, which you'll find won't come off despite your best attempts. In your pocket you'll find a room key, engraved with a number.

The weather is currently cool, with the sun brightly shining in the sky, though there are a few too many clouds to make it a completely clear day. While most of them appear rather normal, every so often you might spot one that looks just a bit off— like a storm cloud that's completely lost it's way. Lucky for you, it doesn't seem like you're going to have to worry about any inclement weather anytime soon, as they'll vanish from your vision as quickly as they came.

A large stone wall surrounds the entirety of the castle, though it's anyone guess why that is— maybe it's for your safety, maybe it's to keep you trapped, or maybe it's for another reason entirely. The only breach in the wall is a single gate that looks like it certainly led to the outside at one point, but that too has been cordoned off by solid stone.

Fortunately, there's nothing to stop you from entering the castle itself, where you'll find it's pretty grand all things considered. The lighting inside is provided not by electricity, but by magical flame that adjusts to the time of day or night. Actually, if you're looking for anything electronic anywhere, or even a simple power outlet, you'll be sorely out of luck.

For now, it might be best to explore and make some sense of where you are and why you're here— maybe one of your fellow travelers might know something? There are some plaques in the Great Hall that might catch your interest given their focus, in addition to one ridiculously large golden one that seems to bear rules.

Welcome, fellow warriors, to your very long stay.

They did.

[WHAT CAN YOU DO... she finishes with the carrots and reaches for a potato next, giving it a slightly puzzled look before making an attempt to start peeling it.

She should probably find a different knife for this...]

Act however you would like to act and call me whatever you would like to call me. My status means very little here, I'm afraid.

[ yeah, he notices that and gets her a smaller knife, easier to peel it. ]

Try this one.

[ and then back 2 onion hell ]

Status 'n shit's important no matter where ya go. [ he's a Yakuza ] I'll call ya Sen-chan if that's what ya want, Sen-hime, but ...

Ah, thank you.

[He's right! That knife does make it easier to peel the potato, so she's making some progress. (There are some bits that she isn't quite able to get rid of the skin on the first try, but she goes back and makes sure to meticulously skin it.)]

Mm... you aren't wrong, really. No matter where I am, I am indeed a princess. [She sighs.] Be that as it may, in this place I don't have the same resources I did in my homeland.

...yet, anyway.

[There's some way to gain an advantage here, she's sure. She just hasn't found it yet.]

But, "Sen-chan" is fine! It makes me feel as though we're friends. [And then, brightly:] It wouldn't be too forward of me to call you Mashima-kun, would it?

Guess that's true. Leaders need followers.

[ he's not a princess but he does lead the biggest family in the tojo clan so he finds this situation #relatable to some extent. to another extent, he also just likes punching people.

he's surprised to hear her change the syllable in his name but laughs. shi like death. how appropriate if they're supposed to be murdering people. it's a black sense of humor probably no one else (save nishitani) would appreicate, probably. ]

Sure, ya can call me whatever ya want.

[OH MY GOD THAT WAS A TYPO THAT I DIDN'T CATCH ACTUALLY I'M SORRY let's just pretend sen misspoke. and didn't notice that she did, because if she had she would have corrected it. whoops.]

I appreciate it!

[Whew! That's better. It almost feels like she's managing to make friends here, which is good just from the standpoint that the more allies one has, the more likely one is to survive (in theory). Also, she just likes making friends.]

I'm looking forward to getting to know you in the days to come.

That's very kind of you! I'll certainly keep that in mind.

[Especially, y'know, with murder hanging over their heads and all.

Sen will add her carrots and potatoes to the mix when she sees him putting in the onions, then peers curiously at the pot.]

...how does one tell when it's finished?
maddogs: (i want it bad)

[personal profile] maddogs 2017-08-03 05:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Ya wanted to put the pork in, right? We gotta wait until it's completely cooked so no one gets sick. It might take a little bit but it'll be worth it.

Is there a way of telling when the pork is cooked through entirely? It may look as though it's finished from the outside, but the inside may need a little more time...
maddogs: (i wouldnt do)
