Beginning
One moment you were elsewhere, surely speaking to your friends, fighting in a battle of your life, dying, or even in a state of non-existence in its entirety. It doesn't matter now, since when you open your eyes it’s become clear that not only is everything around you foreign and unfamiliar, so is everyone. And there seems to be a fair lot of you, at that.
It's easy to discern a few things upon a cursory glance, once you pick yourself up from the field of grass you're resting on. The place you've awoken in seems to be fairly tranquil, for the first few moments at least, and the view of a newly budded sakura tree is among the first that will greet you. In the distance, is a towering castle that manages to look all at once both imposing and welcoming at the same time. There's also an odd pendant around your neck, which you'll find won't come off despite your best attempts. In your pocket you'll find a room key, engraved with a number.
The weather is currently cool, with the sun brightly shining in the sky, though there are a few too many clouds to make it a completely clear day. While most of them appear rather normal, every so often you might spot one that looks just a bit off— like a storm cloud that's completely lost it's way. Lucky for you, it doesn't seem like you're going to have to worry about any inclement weather anytime soon, as they'll vanish from your vision as quickly as they came.
A large stone wall surrounds the entirety of the castle, though it's anyone guess why that is— maybe it's for your safety, maybe it's to keep you trapped, or maybe it's for another reason entirely. The only breach in the wall is a single gate that looks like it certainly led to the outside at one point, but that too has been cordoned off by solid stone.
Fortunately, there's nothing to stop you from entering the castle itself, where you'll find it's pretty grand all things considered. The lighting inside is provided not by electricity, but by magical flame that adjusts to the time of day or night. Actually, if you're looking for anything electronic anywhere, or even a simple power outlet, you'll be sorely out of luck.
For now, it might be best to explore and make some sense of where you are and why you're here— maybe one of your fellow travelers might know something? There are some plaques in the Great Hall that might catch your interest given their focus, in addition to one ridiculously large golden one that seems to bear rules.
Welcome, fellow warriors, to your very long stay.

Welcome, fellow warriors, to your very long stay.

Continuing this conversation with me.
[That ought to be enough, clearly.]
no subject
Shit, can't argue with that!
[ He follows. This is going to be a disaster. ]
no subject
[Which isn't even flirtatious so much as honest fact, but he's free to take it how he likes. Rosalind leads them towards the kitchen, her gaze set forward.]
I don't suppose cooking skills came with a knowledge of knives?
[Which is assuming a bit, but he'll likely correct her if she's wrong.]
no subject
He certainly isn't going to correct her about the knives. Knives are his absolute favorite. ]
Nope. Bout all I can make is rice, babe, if ya were lookin' fer a cook, yer gonna hafta find somebody who ain't got people ta do that shit.
no subject
Madam. Not babe.
no subject
Shit, yer all up on my case, ain'tcha? Can't a man tell a girl she's hot without gettin' on yer bad side, doll?
no subject
[Her sharp glance doesn't soften at all, but Rosalind soon turns, poking around the kitchen, more to explore than because she's truly hungry.]
no subject
Awright, awright.
[ He'll relent. ish. ]
I oughta call ya Ojousama at this rate, Lutece-chan.
no subject
[But hey, if he's relenting, she'll do the same: it's an honest question, not a snapped out retort.]
no subject
[ That's not... exactly wrong...? ]
no subject
Well, you're not wrong about that. But given I'm typically correct, my getting my way tends to work out for everyone.
no subject
[ Seriously, she's. His type. He's going to enjoy getting to know her....? ]
1/2
[It's a word, not a proper laugh, but to her surprise, she isn't repulsed by the confession. She typically is when the occasional man says things like that, but . . . hm. What makes this different?
Perhaps because there's no implicit eagerness for that to be confirmed and reciprocated. He's simply telling her, casually and with no real expectation, and so it's something she can safely ignore or engage in.
So she turns, catching his eye, amused if not smiling.]
Do I look as though I'm a fighter, Mr. Nishitani? I know my strengths, and I'm a scientist, not a brawler.
no subject
. . . actually. I admit, part of my reason for initially speaking with you was to ask if you would be willing to offer lessons. Loath as I am to admit it, I can't imagine staying here won't involve some fighting. And while I have some experience in bloody matters, it doesn't stack up against an experienced fighter.
no subject
[ Because then he'd really have something to celebrate here. But he's great at just saying how he feels out loud, usually to gross extremes, so it's probably lucky he hasn't said anything too bad to Rosalind quite yet. I'm sure he'll have plenty of time to offend her in the future.
He pauses to consider her proposal. I mean, if he trains her, he'll get to fight her. That would be a whole lot of fun, wouldn't it? ]
Tell ya what, Lutece-chan! I ain't much of a teacher, but if ya're lookin' ta get sweaty and put up a fight, I'll train ya. Just don't expect me ta get all proper-like, I especially don't play too nice when I'm fightin'.
no subject
But on the other hand, what would she rather: to have to snap at him to keep his hands to himself and learn a few methods of defense, or be perfectly safe right up until someone comes at her and she's caught without a means of defense?
She doesn't threaten him, nor protest in a feeble attempt to make him agree not to make a pass. The quickest way to make yourself a target is to paint yourself as untouchable; she knows that very well.]
This isn't going to end in anything carnal, Mr. Nishitani.
