Beginning

One moment you were elsewhere, surely speaking to your friends, fighting in a battle of your life, dying, or even in a state of non-existence in its entirety. It doesn't matter now, since when you open your eyes it’s become clear that not only is everything around you foreign and unfamiliar, so is everyone. And there seems to be a fair lot of you, at that.

It's easy to discern a few things upon a cursory glance, once you pick yourself up from the field of grass you're resting on. The place you've awoken in seems to be fairly tranquil, for the first few moments at least, and the view of a newly budded sakura tree is among the first that will greet you. In the distance, is a towering castle that manages to look all at once both imposing and welcoming at the same time. There's also an odd pendant around your neck, which you'll find won't come off despite your best attempts. In your pocket you'll find a room key, engraved with a number.

The weather is currently cool, with the sun brightly shining in the sky, though there are a few too many clouds to make it a completely clear day. While most of them appear rather normal, every so often you might spot one that looks just a bit off— like a storm cloud that's completely lost it's way. Lucky for you, it doesn't seem like you're going to have to worry about any inclement weather anytime soon, as they'll vanish from your vision as quickly as they came.

A large stone wall surrounds the entirety of the castle, though it's anyone guess why that is— maybe it's for your safety, maybe it's to keep you trapped, or maybe it's for another reason entirely. The only breach in the wall is a single gate that looks like it certainly led to the outside at one point, but that too has been cordoned off by solid stone.

Fortunately, there's nothing to stop you from entering the castle itself, where you'll find it's pretty grand all things considered. The lighting inside is provided not by electricity, but by magical flame that adjusts to the time of day or night. Actually, if you're looking for anything electronic anywhere, or even a simple power outlet, you'll be sorely out of luck.

For now, it might be best to explore and make some sense of where you are and why you're here— maybe one of your fellow travelers might know something? There are some plaques in the Great Hall that might catch your interest given their focus, in addition to one ridiculously large golden one that seems to bear rules.

Welcome, fellow warriors, to your very long stay.

Ah, this is no reason to be impressed, it's just my duty.

[ He smile softens a bit, however. It's nice to know she's spreading the aura of calm that she means to spread. ]

People who fly with us give themselves into our hands for comfort and safety. You all may not be my passengers, but I may as well let my training help us out.

Still, we're lucky to have you here with us. Panic can, at times, keep people from fulfilling their duties.

[Rhoda's gained a couple of points in Sen's book.]

I don't suppose you would be able to train others the way you were trained? I've been doing my best to keep calm, myself, but it may be easier said than done.

[ She tilts her head and thinks for a second. ]

... well, I'm a professional flight attendant not a professional educator, but I could certainly make an attempt. Though I fear my skills my largely be specific to flying.

The concepts behind them may prove useful, in any case.

[And, honestly, she's just plain curious about flying. She's never seen an airplane in her life.]

How did you become a flight attendant, if I may ask?

It's always been my dream to travel to many new places, so I applied right when I left college. I was accepted into the training program and from then on went from junior to senior attendant.

It was a rather straight-forward process.

I see...

[Rhoda's explanation leaves Sen with more questions than answers, but that's fine. She can figure it out by context.]

So you've worked hard and now you're living your dreams. How admirable.

Yes....

[ She doesn't look as happy as she should when confirming that, but she's quick to move on. ]

Do you remember what you were doing before coming here? There may be some common thread so we can figure out what happened...

Ah, yes.

[Sen thinks back. It doesn't take much - she can remember what she was doing very clearly. The only thing that's missing is an explanation for how she arrived here.]

I was leaving the home of a friend of mine. It's quite disorienting to walk out of a door and then suddenly wake up in a field... and what of yourself?

Our plane had just taken off for a short flight to a maintenance facility... I was cleaning up the attendant's room and then.. I was here.

I don't recall anything in between, it's mysterious.

[ Her smile is twitching a little, the stress is... very much present. ]

...mysterious... that is certainly one way of describing it.

[Suspicious is another, but of course, they all already know there's something not quite right about their being here.]

If we were brought here somehow, then it must be for some sort of purpose. It may become more clear with a little more time... perhaps we should do our best not to think too hard about it for now.

I can't imagine what kind of reason someone would have to bring such a, uh, colorful and diverse group of people together in a random location, so I might as well not even try...

...for now, I suppose we should simply do our best to keep our composure and learn whatever we can about this place... and the people we are sharing it with.
