Week 2

Friday's harrowing events are clear in the minds of manyfirst and foremost, the death of Rika Furude, and of course the reveal and subsequent "sentencing" of Asch the Bloody. It also serves well as a reminder to everyone that the gloves are off, there won't be an easy way out for anyone and it is unlikely that there will be an option to 'wait it out' in the hopes of not participating in this 'game'. Or, as The Sage and The Teishu put it:

The Challenge.

Despite how you felt about the trial, it's likely that some rest would be welcome after all that transpired. Fortunately, some of your fellow warriors have taken it upon themselves to provide a reprieve of sorts, if you'd rather not be alone.

As if the events of the trial are supposed to be nothing but routine, dawns comes once more Sunday morning, punctuated with the sound of the rooster crowing obnoxiously. Any light sleepers hoping for their rest to not be disturbed may find themselves disappointed. Though, if anyone should wish, they may feel free to try to fall back asleep.

But, maybe that time can be better spent wandering. It seems that some places may have mysteriously unveiled themselves. It might do well to check them out. Or not. How anyone chooses to spend their time is ultimately up to them.

SUNDAY | MONDAY | TUESDAY | WEDNESDAY | THURSDAY

...ah, perhaps we ought to help ourselves to the things in the storage closet, then.

[They were told to make themselves at home, it's fine.]

That's right, you're a doctor... What is your clinic like?
devilsphysician: (bedside manner)

[personal profile] devilsphysician 2017-08-08 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
In Geutrink, to call it a clinic is to oversell it, it was an old shop the villagers had lent to me to use when I'm there...

[He slightly tilt his head, crossing his arms over his chest, for a moment his expression falls, looking almost regretful... angry? before he shook his head and pushes on]

It was a devil to keep the place dust free, and I couldn't keep my more delicate supplies there, and I didn't have immediate access to the latest equipment, but other than that, it was serviceable and made for an adequate surgical room if the need arises. A far cry from the Royal Clinic I'm working in now - white, immaculate, and with a constant staff of assistants on hand, and of course the latest and newest tools were at hand if I or Dr. Glening -

[Despite his best effort, there's a hint of venom when he mention this person's name]

can get to quick work on a moment's notice without much need to do additional cleaning.

...

[Well then. Sen raises an eyebrow delicately, and though she can't help but be curious about the venom in his tone, it is perhaps not the best thing to push for more information on while she's attempting to get him to help her.

But she'll bear it in mind to ask about once they know each other a little better.]

It sounds as though you've certainly moved up in the world. [Her tone is mild.] You must have been a very hard worker.

It's more a return - I used to be the Court Physician, but I had quit and gone to the countryside form my sister's health - the factory smoke of the Kamazene was not good for her lungs - and as there were no doctors in the village, I decided to continue my trade.

[He gives a casual shrug, which seems odd for a man of his usual demeanor]

But at any rate, a clean clinic is imperative to the health of patient.

Ah... I see.

[While there are some things he says she doesn't quite understand - "factory smoke" is a bit of a foreign concept to her - she can certainly glean enough from context, and she nods slowly.]

A dutiful brother, then. Your sister and your patients were lucky to have you.

[She tilts her head to one side, thinking.]

...we are lucky to have you here, as well. Your expertise made the task facing us at the trial much easier.
devilsphysician: (A Gentleman is polite)

[personal profile] devilsphysician 2017-08-08 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
[He half-bows at that]

I am glad to be of service... though I hope my expertise won't be called upon for such matters.

[Georik knew however it was likely]

I just hope I would be able to return to Lillith soon enough.

That would be ideal.

[Yeah, they'll definitely be calling him over to look at a dead body in a week.]

Lillith... is that the name of your sister?
devilsphysician: (Impish doctor)

[personal profile] devilsphysician 2017-08-08 04:19 pm (UTC)(link)
[He nods in confirmation, trying to pretend that he doesn't know he'll probably be examining another body]

She's about thirteen, stubborn and a bit spoiled - but I suppose that is my fault there.

I think we should go fetch the cleaning supplies if we can to start on the cleaning.

[Much as he rather not, if it's to be done, it's best to do it soon]

[personal profile] deontological 2017-08-08 04:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, well... if ever there is a time when it's fine for someone to be stubborn and a bit spoiled, it's while they're young. And stubbornness tends to become strength as a young lady gets older.

[She smiles, then blinks rapidly as he points out the should get some supplies.]

...oh! Yes, you're quite right. My apologies, I was somewhat distracted.

[She likes hearing about the places people came from and the people they knew prior to coming here... it's a welcome change from, y'know, worrying about murder.

For now, she'll set the water down and head for the stairs.]
devilsphysician: (amused)

[personal profile] devilsphysician 2017-08-08 06:51 pm (UTC)(link)
[He chuckles, heading up as well]

Zaberisks do have a reputation for being rather willful among the aristocrats - as for Lillith she's quite an accomplished baker, and enjoys canning jams and jellies - it's difficult to keep one's hands off them before they've finished cooling.

[personal profile] deontological 2017-08-09 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
Ah... how lovely.

[Sen wants to try this food. Alas, she won't get that chance, but it's probably all for the better. Lillith doesn't deserve this shit.]

What sorts of things does she bake?
devilsphysician: (A Gentleman is polite)

[personal profile] devilsphysician 2017-08-09 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
[He checks the storage closet, still have brooms and mops - best to grab those on the way back from getting borax from the laundry hut]

breads, cakes, pies, tortes, nothing that required a lot of exotic ingredients, and she'd make jams out of the local berries and edible flowers.

[God Lillith doesn't deserve the shit they got at home, and certainly nothing here]

[personal profile] deontological 2017-08-09 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
[Yeah, they don't want to carry those all the way out to the laundry hut and back again...]

...such things could be made here as well, then. [She wants to try them...] I don't suppose you have a recipe?
devilsphysician: (a neutral face)

[personal profile] devilsphysician 2017-08-11 04:57 pm (UTC)(link)
[He shook his head]

Unfortunately, not memorized, though with the things that the Wishing Pond keeps spitting out, maybe one of her recipe books is among the items...
