Week 3
Week 3
Sunday - Thursday
The beginning of the third week starts like the rest, even with the loss of three of your fellow warriors: Chiaki, Hei, and Senhime. Despite your best hopes, it doesn't seem like the trend of murders is going to change: though at least there is some relief to be had from the trial's somewhat unexpected conclusion. The mood in the group is undoubtedly different, but perhaps this experience has made you all stronger— at least one could hope.
In the end, what else can you do but move on?
Like last week, it seems another pattern has established itself: with new areas of the castle for you to explore. Who knows, maybe this week you'll discover something else worthwhile in its depths. Or you can simply focus on surviving— after the past week, surely no one can blame you. Whatever choices you make this week are ultimately yours and yours alone, for better or for worse.

Music Room
[It's nice to see someone in high spirits, really]
Are you proficient in music, Craig-kun?
no subject
He holds up his hands, waving them back and forth.]
Just "Elliot" is fine!
["Craig" sounds too much like his dad. And he loves his dad and all, but that's just Weird.]
Anyway, yeah! I'm a student at the Music Academy back home. I've been itching to get my hands on an instrument since we got here and I lost my violin...
no subject
My, we got a musician in our group. What else can you play besides violin?
[He actually seems very interested in Elliot's talents]
no subject
I'd like to think I'm pretty decent at the piano. Or, really, any keyboard instrument. Give me long enough with anything and I'm pretty sure I could get the hang of it, though!
[see: the world's tiniest violin and the harmonica]

[Kizakura goes towards the pile of instruments. That over there is an harp, isn't it?]
I'm interested in seeing how you'll do with this one. Mind showing me?
no subject
[But he isn't one to back down from a music challenge, so he sits in front of it and starts noodling about.
After a couple minutes, he manages to pluck out a very simple little tune. He's still pretty uncertain with it - he's gonna need more practice than this - but hey, it's something!]
no subject
Had you ever played the harp before?
no subject

[And if Hope's Peak's scout says it, then it's likely to be true]
Why do you play music? What does it make you feel?
no subject
I do it because I love it, obviously, but also... I learned a lot about how much music can heal people this past year, with my classmates. If this is the gift I have, then I want to use it to help people as best as I possibly can.
no subject
You know, if I still was the scout for the school I worked at, I'd be considering extending you an invitation to attend there. I'm not saying I would actually invite you, it's just a consideration.
[It's impossible to judge the full extent of your talent in just ten minutes, after all]
Because in my opinion you have a lot of talent as a musician, and the right attitude to use it.
no subject
[Fantasy JRPG high schooler, here! Let's compare worlds!]
But thanks. That means a lot to me, actually. [He offers a sheepish smile.] I'm never sure I can live up to praise like that, but I can at least say I'll do my best.
no subject
[He sounds...a bit bitter for a moment while talking about Hope's Peak, but that quickly goes away]
What's important is to keep trying. If you already plan to do that then there's nothing else you need to do.
no subject
Wow. "Brightest and most talented?" Um, yeah, I definitely think you'd be going after the wrong guy with that one. But it's appreciated!
[seriously though holy wow that's. a lot.
In this thread, Elliot forgets that his class back at Thors was basically also the Best and Brightest by the end of their year.]
Well... I guess that's true enough. I don't know that I'll ever be the "most" anything, but can't ever get better if you don't try, right?
no subject
[He does sound proud about his own achievements]
Exactly. Did that get taught to you in your military school?
no subject
[He means it! Elliot just looks stunned by all of this. Hope's Peak sounds fascinating.
And it is, but for all the wrong reasons.]Haha... you know, now that you mention it, in a way, I guess it did. Not through classes or anything, but I learned a lot just from my classmates and everything we did together.

[He decides on something from before everything went to hell.]
It's nothing to do with music, specifically, but a part of our classwork was that we got sent on field studies all over the nation to help people out and learn firsthand about the places we saw. I'm never gonna forget our first one - we went to Celdic, which is kind of a little town, but they had the Grand Market, so it was still a pretty busy place.
It started out with just helping the market manager and some of the other locals, and dealing with highway monsters and stuff, but by the end of it, we wound up stopping some jeager dropouts from stealing a bunch of goods from the Grand Market and causing a whole lot of trouble. ...I don't even wanna think of what the merchants were gonna do to one another if we didn't stop that.
...And we almost got arrested by the provincial army before the Railway Military Police showed up and bailed us out. But overall it was really awesome to help people out like that!
[And again, that was their first field study.

[...Kizakura laughs with amusement. That sure was a story!]
Are all your field studies like that? Something unexpected happening all the time?
no subject
[A beat.]
'Sides, it coulda been worse. I'm pretty sure Machias actually got arrested on one of 'em.

[Surprising no one, that's the same provincial army that tried to arrest Elliot's group in Celdic.]
