Week 8

Sunday - Thursday

Whatever hopes you had going into the final trial have been dashed—after the execution, most of you were left with that unfortunate revelation, those bitter betrayals, and a lingering sense of regret over your failures. Even now, some of you may find it difficult to feel joy over the fact that everything is almost at an end. Understandably so, and even if things had been different, there's nothing that would erase your knowledge of the Emperor's ominous warning; a warning you either failed to heed or simply didn't know how to prevent.

In order to get through this new week, you will all need to pull yourselves together and work as a team. Some of you have already begun the process of trying to piece everything together. It's a start, but there's still much for you to discuss. After all, it wouldn't do to just suddenly discard all that information given to you, would it?

This week there aren't any new areas for you to explore. The only change in scenary comes from the sakura tree, and it's one that's hard to miss. The tree stands tall, branches full and lively, and the entire area around it seems that much more vibrant for it. The tree is in full bloom, a clear sign that your time in this castle has come to an end.

Anyone who tries to come too close to the tree will find themselves blocked by a white barrier.

[ that's probably better. away from their makeshift pillow/blanket/mattress fort on the ground from when they were all sleeping together. away from the memories and the sense that maybe nishitani would walk in and jump on them and cuddle them and cop a feel. ]

[She focuses on the process of making tea for a bit, but then:]

Did you sleep at all last night?

[It's not an idle question. She'd dozed on and off herself, and somewhere around dawn she'd finally collapsed, but she wonders if he's working off nothing at all.]

[maddogs]

No.

[ he's too afraid to. the nightmares from when he was tortured are bad enough, but. he knows when he finally falls asleep enough to dream every dream will be about death. about killing. ]

Then we're going to sleep after we eat. Or at least: you are. I'll be there with you.

[maddogs]

Eh? How come I gotta sleep but ya don't? How's that fair?

Because I slept. And because when you start having nightmares, I'll be there to wake you up. And, hopefully, vice-versa.

[maddogs]

[ he considers this for a moment and then nods ]
