Final Investigation

Unless you're outside the change in the environment is subtle, a spike of electricity in the air that lasts only for a moment. And if you're outside, well, it's hard to miss the blossoms of the sakura tree as they fall in a flurry. It's rather beautiful, if not somewhat disturbing; sometime in the past few hours, they've changed color from a cheerful pink to a blood red.

Regardless of whether you see that as an omen or not, you'll hear what comes next through your pendants:

Third floor, there is little time left.

The Teishu's words are clipped and urgent, so you probably shouldn't tarry.

What awaits you when you climb the stairs are three new corridors and one ornate, black, wooden door directly opposite the solar. There's a keyhole here so you don't need to worry about trying to force it down (and you still have that key don't you?) but it would be wise to explore the rest of rooms first.

Best to be prepared and all.

[He'll do so! He'll check out the other desk - checking first if the typewriter had been recently used before investigating the drawers of the desk]

[ The typewriter hadn't been used recently, no!

Good thinking on the drawers, Georik! The first one he opens will reveal a small black box in the first drawer. Open it up? ]

[He'll use the tip of the knife to open it up! Let's see what's in it!]

[ There’s just one person in this one. It's an individual who is decidedly an adult man who looks about the age of the usual twenty-year old wearing a red kimono and he has a blue sode (Japanese-style shoulder guard) on his left shoulder. The lower half of his face is visible as well. It also looks like he has spiky, unkempt, short brown hair that just almost reaches past the nape of his neck and he has a sharp, happy grin. Name written is “Mutsunokami”. ]

[He makes note of the name and description - he looks like someone alert, and to make note - he searches the other drawers, and felt for false bottoms or sides]

[ While he's feeling around for false bottoms and sides, he may accidentally find that he's easily able to push the desk from its spot with relative ease. It looks like it was covering something up!

Underneath the desk's place is a hidden door that can be pulled right open. Though, before he gets to that, he may notice that there's something else in a second drawer he's also opened in his hurried investigation!

Does he want to look at the item in the second drawer first? ]

[He goes to check the other thing in the drawer - but a hidden door is definitely noteworthy so he calls out]

Kizakura, Hanyuu - I found something!

[ He'll find that it's a broken pocketwatch, while he's at it! ]

[He turns the pocket watch over while he waits - how exactly is it broken, what is it made of, and is there any distinctive decorative marks]

[ As he turns the pocket watch over, he might take note that it's broken in the sense that the hands no longer turn. They're both stuck at 12.

Also, since he's holding the pocketwatch, he'll note that it was covering up a torn piece of paper (mostly) from where it was lying in the drawer. The paper seems to contain a poem that reads: ]

eternal contract
lost historical purpose;
a thousand cranes


[ That's all that's going on here, except for what's under the hidden door, whenever he wants to check that out (with or without the two.) ]

[A thousand cranes? He'll have to ask the other two about this. He places the watch and poem back for now, and will wait for the other two to open the trap door]

[ It's a good thing that they've come, then, isn't it? ]

[ She will mosey on over once she's looked at the sword-related reading material! ]

Ah....a trap door?

From the looks of it... also, would you or Kizakura know anything about 'a thousand cranes'?

I think it's a legend of some sort: if you make one thousand cranes, you'll be granted a wish.

[He turns to Hanyuu. She may be more likely to know than him, he's not really a connoisseur of legends and folklore]

Cranes are said to live for a thousand years, so there's one for each year. Sometimes, instead of a wish, you'll receive good luck or eternal happiness, but it is the same concept.

I saw it as part of a poem on the back of a broken watch - so it must be meaningful.

Interesting...it could lead towards some place in the second floor, perhaps?

[ Now that everyone's gathered here, will you all take the chance investigate/open the trap door? ]

[He will open it once everyone's in place!]

[ Once he does and everyone's in place, they'll be able to see that there's stairs that leads into a dimly let area. It's small and compact, along with full of cobwebs.

They'll see that there's a large, black stone dais is able to be located. It looks like a lot of dirt has collected here. Next to the dais lies a gun, that appears to be pretty old-fashioned. If picked up, it will be found that it has no bullets whatsoever.

Other than that, there's nothing else here and everyone has completed the investigation of this room thoroughly. Good job! ]
