Beginning
One moment you were elsewhere, surely speaking to your friends, fighting in a battle of your life, dying, or even in a state of non-existence in its entirety. It doesn't matter now, since when you open your eyes it’s become clear that not only is everything around you foreign and unfamiliar, so is everyone. And there seems to be a fair lot of you, at that.
It's easy to discern a few things upon a cursory glance, once you pick yourself up from the field of grass you're resting on. The place you've awoken in seems to be fairly tranquil, for the first few moments at least, and the view of a newly budded sakura tree is among the first that will greet you. In the distance, is a towering castle that manages to look all at once both imposing and welcoming at the same time. There's also an odd pendant around your neck, which you'll find won't come off despite your best attempts. In your pocket you'll find a room key, engraved with a number.
The weather is currently cool, with the sun brightly shining in the sky, though there are a few too many clouds to make it a completely clear day. While most of them appear rather normal, every so often you might spot one that looks just a bit off— like a storm cloud that's completely lost it's way. Lucky for you, it doesn't seem like you're going to have to worry about any inclement weather anytime soon, as they'll vanish from your vision as quickly as they came.
A large stone wall surrounds the entirety of the castle, though it's anyone guess why that is— maybe it's for your safety, maybe it's to keep you trapped, or maybe it's for another reason entirely. The only breach in the wall is a single gate that looks like it certainly led to the outside at one point, but that too has been cordoned off by solid stone.
Fortunately, there's nothing to stop you from entering the castle itself, where you'll find it's pretty grand all things considered. The lighting inside is provided not by electricity, but by magical flame that adjusts to the time of day or night. Actually, if you're looking for anything electronic anywhere, or even a simple power outlet, you'll be sorely out of luck.
For now, it might be best to explore and make some sense of where you are and why you're here— maybe one of your fellow travelers might know something? There are some plaques in the Great Hall that might catch your interest given their focus, in addition to one ridiculously large golden one that seems to bear rules.
Welcome, fellow warriors, to your very long stay.

Sen turns her attention away from the ingredients she has no idea what to do with and to the stranger. To her credit, she doesn't look all that intimidated by him. She's either not, or she's very good at hiding it. Either way, she smiles.]
I suppose it's obvious I'm a bit out of my depth, isn't it? [A bit, she says...] If you could provide some instruction, I would appreciate it.

[ majima goes over to inspect a block of knives, pulling them out one at a time with a little bit of gleam in his eye ]
Why dontcha pick out some ingredients ya think'll be good in your stew and I'll show ya how ta chop 'em.
no subject
Sen watches him with the knives before nodding, separating out some of the ingredients she'd like to work with. Pork, onion, carrot, potato, cabbage... If nothing else, they should be nutritious enough to give them energy while they're here.]
There, I think that will do. [And then, with a small bow -] Thank you for your assistance. It's very kind of you.
no subject
he
bows back??? ]
Nah, it ain't a thing.
[ ok time to look at her ingredients. that's pretty good. he hands over a smaller knife, hilt first ]
Here try this one. Don't cut the onions that'll make ya cry. I only got one eye, see? So it's not a problem for me.
no subject
[They're all his! And she's curious about how he ended up with only one eye, but that's perhaps not a polite question to ask at their first meeting.
She'll get started on the carrots. First things first: remove the leafy part on top, then start slicing...]
Ah... I shouldn't slice them too thinly, should I? Or they'll cook too quickly and become overdone in the broth.
no subject
[ he grabs a pot and starts filling it with water. that's an important step. ]
But look at ya, knowin' how to chop carrots all dainty like. Here I thought ya didn't know any part of cookin' but you're already a pro!
no subject
[She has, of course, already seen his plaque. The missing eye is distinctive enough that she's able to put a name to his face without much effort, but it's probably better to let him introduce himself.]
no subject
[ its true the eye thing helps a lot ]
And it ain't flattery. What's your name, princess?
no subject
I am Sen, of Yase. It's a pleasure to meet you, Majima-san.
no subject
Nice ta meet ya too, Sen-hime!
[ #nailedit ]
no subject
[yeah, her parents were not super creative]
Just "Sen" is fine.
no subject
[ there's definitely a difference from the way he said it last. the hyphen is gone now.
and while they chat about her name, he's going to set the water to boil and start chopping those onions. ]
But what am I supposed ta call ya? I dunno how to act around a princess.
[ he calls the chairman -chan so........ ]
no subject
[WHAT CAN YOU DO... she finishes with the carrots and reaches for a potato next, giving it a slightly puzzled look before making an attempt to start peeling it.
She should probably find a different knife for this...]
Act however you would like to act and call me whatever you would like to call me. My status means very little here, I'm afraid.
no subject
Try this one.
[ and then back 2 onion hell ]
Status 'n shit's important no matter where ya go. [ he's a Yakuza ] I'll call ya Sen-chan if that's what ya want, Sen-hime, but ...
no subject
[He's right! That knife does make it easier to peel the potato, so she's making some progress. (There are some bits that she isn't quite able to get rid of the skin on the first try, but she goes back and makes sure to meticulously skin it.)]
Mm... you aren't wrong, really. No matter where I am, I am indeed a princess. [She sighs.] Be that as it may, in this place I don't have the same resources I did in my homeland.
...yet, anyway.
[There's some way to gain an advantage here, she's sure. She just hasn't found it yet.]
But, "Sen-chan" is fine! It makes me feel as though we're friends. [And then, brightly:] It wouldn't be too forward of me to call you Mashima-kun, would it?
no subject
[ he's not a princess but he does lead the biggest family in the tojo clan so he finds this situation #relatable to some extent. to another extent, he also just likes punching people.
he's surprised to hear her change the syllable in his name but laughs. shi like death. how appropriate if they're supposed to be murdering people. it's a black sense of humor probably no one else (save nishitani) would appreicate, probably. ]
Sure, ya can call me whatever ya want.
no subject
I appreciate it!
[Whew! That's better. It almost feels like she's managing to make friends here, which is good just from the standpoint that the more allies one has, the more likely one is to survive (in theory). Also, she just likes making friends.]
I'm looking forward to getting to know you in the days to come.
no subject
Yeah, me too! An' if ya need anythin', ya can always call my name and I'll be there.
[ and now the onion is finally taken care of and he can put it in the now boiling water ]
no subject
[Especially, y'know, with murder hanging over their heads and all.
Sen will add her carrots and potatoes to the mix when she sees him putting in the onions, then peers curiously at the pot.]
...how does one tell when it's finished?
