Week 4

Week 4
Sunday - Thursday

You've lost four in the past week—Machias, Vanitas, Natalia and Edna. Just in time for the fourth week to roll around, for those of you who are superstitious. But it really isn't like you could forget that death is a common occurrence in this castle, whether you believe in legends or not. Some of you might find solace in the chance to recuperate and move on, if you're still up for companionship with your fellow warriors.

Either way, dawn is soon upon the castle and like it or not, you will all have to face whatever comes this week.

Like before the pattern repeats itself, with new areas revealed for you to explore. It may be that something worth discovering lies in wait to be found, or you can simple enjoy the new additions for what they are. Distractions are most likely welcome, regardless of your feelings of the past week.

SURVIVING WARRIORS: 21

SUNDAY | MONDAY | TUESDAY | WEDNESDAY | THURSDAY

(OOC: Welcome to Week 4 of Ukimiya! Feel free to comment to the weekly top levels and thread as you like, and redeem coins at the wishing pool.

Hey, there's nothing wrong in plastering your name on something you're proud of. You did the right thing.

[Lutece Field may sound like some kind of farm to those who don't know what it's about, but that's not the point. Kizakura moves a pawn forward on the right side of the board, finishing his setup]

Where I come from we're nowhere close to that level of technology. We're already quite advanced, but there's still a lot of innovation and work to be done.

originallutece: (talk; hah well that's all right)

What level of technology are your people at?

[All right. Now it's time to advance: Rosalind sets her pawn forward, intent on whittling down his more important pieces.]

The most advanced machine I have seen allows people enter a virtual world for psychological treatment through memory replacement. The Future Foundation created it.

[Which is pretty damn advanced, all things considered. Since Kizakura brought out the queen so early, all he can try to do is block the way towards that piece]

So we're at whatever level allows that.

originallutece: where i'm even hotter than i already am!! (talk; oh shit a universe)

[personal profile] originallutece 2017-08-23 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
[Oh, that's fascinating.]

Does it work?

[personal profile] fedorascout 2017-08-23 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
It does! It was still in its beta phase, as far as I know, but it was working well.

[As long as you don't die while in it everything would be just fine]
originallutece: don't tell anyone but i'm kinda into this whole cyndi lauper business (talk; shit that's mildly catchy)

[personal profile] originallutece 2017-08-23 06:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Have you tried it?

I haven't. But I'm aware one of our members rebelled against the rest of the higher-ups and made a group of sixteen people undergo treatment with that machine.

The results are yet to be seen.
originallutece: do you think he'll pick the wrong fucking lottery number i bet he will (talk; well here we are again at the fair)

[personal profile] originallutece 2017-08-23 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
So not just a clever psychological treatment, then. A torture device. I see.

I guess so...although it seems to me he was trying to save them. Those sixteen were going to be executed anyway. It was...a last resort move from him.

[Kizakura kept moving his pieces and getting himself in more and more danger each time. It's not long before an opening towards his king is glaringly obvious, yet he sees no way to cover it up]

What a mess we got into right before coming here, that's what we were doing before arriving here: we were in a meeting to decide if that "traitor" deserved to be killed.

originallutece: do you even know what an atom is? (talk; all right let's start)

[personal profile] originallutece 2017-08-24 08:35 pm (UTC)(link)
[Her eyes dart up, meeting his across the board. Then, wryly:]

Sounds rather a familiar scenario.

[There's an obvious move to be made towards his king, and far be it for her not to take it.]

Check.

Gh...I got careless.

[Losing his cool a bit, Kizakura scans the board, looking for a way to counter. Already lost both rooks, one of the knights is on the other side of the board but too far from the black king...all he can do is sacrifice his queen by blocking the chek with it, he can't do anything else]

I didn't expect to be so carefully cornered. That was almost embarrassing.
originallutece: A+ joke would bark out a laugh again (happy; HAH)

[personal profile] originallutece 2017-08-26 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
[Bold move, but not necessarily a suicidal one. He can still win, though Rosalind is intent on it.]

The conversation too distracting?
