Week 4
Week 4
Sunday - Thursday
You've lost four in the past week—Machias, Vanitas, Natalia and Edna. Just in time for the fourth week to roll around, for those of you who are superstitious. But it really isn't like you could forget that death is a common occurrence in this castle, whether you believe in legends or not. Some of you might find solace in the chance to recuperate and move on, if you're still up for companionship with your fellow warriors.
Either way, dawn is soon upon the castle and like it or not, you will all have to face whatever comes this week.
Like before the pattern repeats itself, with new areas revealed for you to explore. It may be that something worth discovering lies in wait to be found, or you can simple enjoy the new additions for what they are. Distractions are most likely welcome, regardless of your feelings of the past week.

Maybe not, but it beats pretendin' somebody ain't gonna show up dead on Friday.

I suppose it could be taken to mean that everyone who's killed so far has used up the time between Tuesday through Friday to strategize rather than kill impulsively, but even then... there doesn't seem to be any rule stating that there's a deadline for murder.

Ya think? Ain't Sage-chan said: [ He lowers his voice, imitating the Sage in his best, not-Kansai accent: ] "Should anyone fail to act by the end of the week, I'm afraid whatever vague threat I've made will come to pass."
I mean, it makes sense that they'd take a while ta decide ta go with it, but between gettin' over whatever guilt folks mighta got, it don't take that long ta plan a crappy murder.
[ "crappy" in this case, since the killers keep getting caught. ]

You're right, that's a deadline even if it's not a rule on a plaque. It's just strange that "end of the week" is so consistently interpreted to mean Friday as opposed to Saturday or Sunday.
But even when people do take a long time to plot or rationalize their actions to themselves... it's evidently still not enough. Two weeks in a row, people confessed during the trials anyway.
[A beat.]
As you said.... "Crappy murders" indeed.

No kiddin'! If ya asked me, my enda the week's closer ta Tuesday or Wednesday cause'a the way things worked out with the nightlife in Sotenbori. [ He shrugs. ] Sage-chan ain't never said "Friday or yer dead" but here we are, every damn Friday: a fuckin' dead body shows up.
Don't get me started on those bullshit confessions. If the assholes who did the murderin' gave two shits about the rest of us, they'd confess early and save us all the fuckin' trouble. Confessin' after all the evidence is pointin' at ya's as good as sayin' "oops ya got a bit of a stain on there" after spillin' a glass of wine all over somebody wearin' a white shirt. It's like naw, ya think?!

[A sigh.]
That's a gross oversimplification, I know. But you're right about that, too. If they had every intention of confessing, it'd save everyone a lot of time if they just did so at the start. But even then, we'd have to do our due diligence to make sure the confession isn't part of a scapegoating attempt. I wouldn't be surprised, for example, if you claimed to be guilty if it got Majima-san off the hook.
[Not an accusation, just a neutrally toned statement.]
That'd be a pretty awful headache, actually. One that I might have to go visit Sotenbori to fix.

[ He did, after all, die for Majima back home. But Majima is here now, so you're all safe. You're welcome. ]
Well... [ He grins, wide. That's an accurate assessment if he's ever heard one. ] Damn, ya got me figured out, Naomi-chan! Ya really are one helluva cop.
[ Why is he smiling so wide? ]
Ain't no secret that I died fer Majima. I'd do it again in a heartbeat, sure, but until that happens, don't worry about it. [ He shrugs, knowing that's not even remotely comforting. Which is why he keeps talking. ] Me, I wanna make it outta here alive so I can get a second chance at bein' with Majima. And Majima's got a Family waitin' for 'im at home. I can't speak fer Majima, but I ain't gonna risk killin' when everybody's track record fer catchin' killers is 100%.
