Sunday - Thursday

You've lost four in the past week—Machias, Vanitas, Natalia and Edna. Just in time for the fourth week to roll around, for those of you who are superstitious. But it really isn't like you could forget that death is a common occurrence in this castle, whether you believe in legends or not. Some of you might find solace in the chance to recuperate and move on, if you're still up for companionship with your fellow warriors.

Either way, dawn is soon upon the castle and like it or not, you will all have to face whatever comes this week.

Like before the pattern repeats itself, with new areas revealed for you to explore. It may be that something worth discovering lies in wait to be found, or you can simple enjoy the new additions for what they are. Distractions are most likely welcome, regardless of your feelings of the past week.

Energy would mean just about the same thing, wouldn't it? But we keep running into the same problem. The point of being dead is you're not moving any time soon, so what energy? What emotions? And how?

[devilsphysician]

This is solved if you believe in any kind of existence after death - such as a soul...

existence? That fits the scheme, would it mean they would just disappear from everything, as if they never were?

[tangas]

Yeah? Go on.

[devilsphysician]

Well, if you believe in a soul.

[He tilts his tilts, organizing his thoughts before he speaks]

What it exactly is hotly debated by theologists, so I am going to give the general layman's ideal: The Soul is basically considered the divine spark that the Almighty had breathed into the earth from which he made man, and is responsible for essentially making humans human, their emotions and persona, but also importantly - their free will, the ability to chose how their fate, and to choose between good, less good, and evil.

If we go with the idea that the dead are not gone when they die, it could be that their souls are trapped somewhere.

[tangas]

... Wait, you don't think the dead are trapped here somewhere, do you? I guess under the tree would be the most obvious place, but...

[devilsphysician]

It seems farfetched, but it's the only way this warning makes any sense - least with the sort of theology I grew up on.

[With that, he restlessly paced]

Emotions is one possibility, Existence is another - and that might be another possibility....

Though if their souls are trapped here... Perhaps...

Perhaps...?

[It's a dire situation indeed, but yet, after hearing all of this... There's still a glimmer of hope, isn't there?]

[He pushes his hair back, breathing out slowly]

I do not want to get anyone's hopes up, but perhaps it is possible, if they are trapped, they could be freed.

[pseudoregelia]

[She gives a soft inhale herself when she hears those words. It's a bit of an expected conclusion after all of that, but...]

...What reason is there to keep fighting, if not for hope?

Even if it turns out to be false in the end... Right now, do we really have that much to lose by trying to pursue it?

It depends on what we can do. Let's not do anything until we're sure of the consequences of any decision we make, alright?

[Good thing we have like five weeks until endgame, there's a lot of time to find out how screwed we all are]

If the consequences outweigh the gains, of course we should stop. But we should at least look into the possibility...

[She knows it's a stretch. But she and Ayumu have been through so many scenarios in which they had no other option but to bet on that tiny chance, and each time they'd managed to pull out hope in the end.

She just can't bring herself to give up on this so easily.]

[He hadn't want to give Eizen or Hanyuu false hope, but since the cat is out of the bag so to speak]

At the very least, this is something to look into.

...In whatever time we have remaining here, let's make sure to take note of everything we've found. Maybe we can leave notes of our own... just in case.

[She's sure the chances of someone succumbing to the temptation of the motive for this week are high, but they need to keep their bases covered nevertheless.]

Of course, I've been trying to take notes on my own end.

[He like to think otherwise, but he knows he's been tempted to keep Germant out of this, but he couldn't do it]

Then let's try to leave them in places potential newcomers can find them, too. For all we know, our rooms could be cleaned out when we're replaced.

[devilsphysician]

[He stops mid-pace]

Do you think that's the source of some of the things we found?

[pseudoregelia]

Hm?

[She pauses to consider that.]

It's... possible. Some of the notes though, didn't they sound like they could be by people from this world, too?

[devilsphysician]

Likely... perhaps it was done with locals first?

[He considers, it did seem like a drastic step to drag in outsiders]

Possibly...

Then again, maybe there really are people from other worlds who could create monster books and things like that. My world doesn't have magic at all, so it's difficult for me to tell the difference.

[devilsphysician]

It's really hard to tell, in mine - lest in my country, magic is outlawed, so I can only speculate base on rumors and hearsay.

Hm... We might need to check with everyone else to see if they recognize the type of magic it is. If not, maybe they can at least give us some help figuring out if it sounds like magic from this place or not.
