Sunday - Thursday

You've lost four in the past week—Machias, Vanitas, Natalia and Edna. Just in time for the fourth week to roll around, for those of you who are superstitious. But it really isn't like you could forget that death is a common occurrence in this castle, whether you believe in legends or not. Some of you might find solace in the chance to recuperate and move on, if you're still up for companionship with your fellow warriors.

Either way, dawn is soon upon the castle and like it or not, you will all have to face whatever comes this week.

Like before the pattern repeats itself, with new areas revealed for you to explore. It may be that something worth discovering lies in wait to be found, or you can simple enjoy the new additions for what they are. Distractions are most likely welcome, regardless of your feelings of the past week.

No, because, ya see, I betrayed by brother. I broke my oath ta him. He'd never do the same.

[She wonders if it has anything to do with the story Nishitani had told her. Perhaps. Perhaps not. But it's strange to think of Majima, angry over almost condemning the wrong person, betraying anyone.]

In what way did you break it?

I didn't show up to a hit we were both takin'. I stranded him there alone.

I was told not ta go.

[ he's quiet for a moment. he definitely looks upset not - not just in his expression but in his whole demeanor. like he's not good at discussing this. ]

I fought a whole gang. But I couldn't do it.

Told by whom, precisely?

[maddogs]

Head of an affiliated family.

[She's quiet for a moment, then:]

It was a set-up. To kill him? Or frame him for something?

[maddogs]

Ya're smarter than we were, Lutece-han.

Was he killed?

[maddogs]

No. He shot all 18 men. An' then he went to jail. He was supposedta get the death penalty, but he got out before that. We just ended up back together.

[That's a surprisingly happy ending, or so it seems, and Rosalind isn't certain if she should trust it.]

Is he waiting for you at home, then?

[maddogs]

[ majima smiles, wide and real ]

Yes.

[Oh. Oh, well, that's . . .]

[She can't ever smile so widely, but there's a faint one gracing her lips-- one the first he'll ever have seen out of her.]
