FIFTH TRIAL
Saturday, Week 5
UNCOVER THE GUILTY PARTY
Yesterday's events were quite shocking. None of you expected to find two victims, much less two who were so young and full of life. But, as always, there's a silver lining here. Their lives bought you release from the motive, and isn't that worth something? After all, it would be a lie to say that this thought hasn't passed through anyone's mind. But would it be right to thank whoever was involved for what they did? For some of you, the idea isn't all that outlandish.
Any further deliberations regarding whether or not the act was truly just will need to wait until later. For now, you have a trial to attend.
Once thirteen of you gather in the Great Hall, the large doors slam right open and prompt everyone to ascend the stairs into the trial room.
As those present takes their seats, it becomes apparent just how many lives have been lost over the course of this game. Half of the seats are now empty, which is staggering given how many of you there were when the challenge began. Beyond the room and the current occupants are the profiles lining the walls. They're hard to miss at this point, for obvious reasons.
The Sage's steady voice slips in through the pendants as soon as everyone's settled.
"It is time, my warriors, to meet the challenge head on. You have all managed to come this far and so I expect you to perform as admirably as you have in the past. How may vary, but every individual here is important and brings their own unique touch to these trials. ... Normally, that is. To my dismay, a number of you will be temporarily incapable of taking part in this challenge.
Let us hope this is a trend that does not continue into future weeks. That said... May all who remain be blessed with only the best of fortune. You will need it."
As soon as the Sage finishes speaking, five images flicker into sight as if brought to life by a projector. Seeing how there's no such device present, it may not be a stretch to consider magic is at work here.

But if he was wearing a lens, then maybe we should consider the contact lens found during the investigation belongs to someone other than Kurosaki-kun -- to the culprit, in other words -- unless he got lucky and found it at some point before his death.

It looks like he was.
[ a pause ]
None of us wear glasses, though...is there any reliable way to check eyesight at a time like this?
no subject
[Which he doesn't, so hopefully someone else does??]

It's the work of a moment to create ten different charts: five for nearsightedness, five for farsightedness. Each paper has a different mixture of letters and words on it, and she offers eight to Mahiro.]
I'll test you, you test the others.
no subject
Sure.
[Anyways, his vision's pretty much 20/20?? He's not like his bff Yoshino who needs glasses, basically.]

[Kizakura reads without any problems. A bit of trouble with farsightedness, but that may be because of his age, not because he truly has eye problems]
no subject
[Sorry, it's just . . . there's one contact missing, who knows what kind of vision people have in one eye and not the other.]
If you wouldn't mind doing it once more, please-- one eye at a time, I'll give you two different things to read.
no subject
[Covering one eye, reading again, doing it with the other eye later...yeah, it seems the farsightedness is because of age, and he isn't using anything to correct it]

No, all right, she will, and assuming Mahiro is amiable to giving those back, she'll be testing those who want it from her.]

THERE'S AN INHERENT BAD INCENTIVE THERE.
anyway, his eyesight is better than average.]

Georik will even pull his pair out for others to examine: the lens are simply magnified]

Then perhaps it did get knocked out when he was... knocked out.
[he didn't mean that pun. Honest.]
Which could speak to the force he hit his head.

[She's not disagreeing, mind; she's just trying to be methodical about it.]
Is there anything else confirmed that happened in the greenhouse?
no subject
I don't get contacts, but... If they're removable, then it doesn't mean that it's impossible for them to get knocked out, even if it isn't probable.

[Kizakura closes his eyes, trying to remember if it was ever mentioned]
The contact Kurosaki-kun is wearing...is it in the opposite side of the bruise on the side of his head, or is it in the same side?
