week 7
Week 7
Sunday - Thursday
With the loss of two more warriors, the castle has grown even quieter still. Such a thing was always bound to become a consequence of your stay here, though the actual reality of it may be more unpleasant. There's been little in the way of parties, which isn't too much of a surprise given your dwindling numbers, but it's still better than nothing, correct?
As with every other week, new locations have been unveiled for you all to either explore or use to casually gather within. If you've been keeping an eye on the cherry blossoms, you'll note that they look just about ready to bloom. The important thing is, of course, that they haven't. But it's only a matter of time, now.

You can contact the sage with your pendants here, and the teishu here.)

[ looks at death note. looks right into the camera. ]
Well...we have not spoken since.
[ And that's not Majima's fault, actually, she's uh. Kind of been avoiding him. ]

[.. if only she knew who Kira was, this opinion could be so radically different...
Feeling another sigh, she tries to repress it this time.]
Ah, I see. Perhaps that's for the best. Everyone's patience has been running thin of late. Reconciliation probably isn't on anyone's agenda.

[ It's not a sarcastic or angry question, just kind of defeated-sounding. She wishes she could hold onto that slim optimism, herself.
She's quiet for a moment. ]
I can't help but feel he was on the right track of reasoning, though. It's silly, I never needed to sleep when I was a spirit, but suddenly that basic need cost me this much. If I wasn't sleeping, neither Tiki-chan nor Rika would have left the room without me, and I...
[ She trails off ]

Understand that what I'm saying is not meant as a defense of the Sage. He has many sins to answer to and I fully intend on seeing that he does. But... I do think that there's a slim chance that he responds favorably to compassion.
When I spoke to him about the war in which his friends perished, he seemed.. startled when I gave him my condolences for his losses during that time. More than likely he was expecting indifference or hatred -- both of which are well earned -- but it seems he simply hasn't tried to empathize with us, rather than being incapable of such a thing.
[...and fuuuuuck she realizes she's sounding like Sen here, so she just scowls at herself.]
Again, it may be wishful thinking on my part. [And this time she does sigh.] In any case, I don't believe you should be blaming yourself, Hanyuu-san. Majima-san was blowing off hot air because he and Tiki-chan argued and he probably feels indirectly responsible for what happened because he couldn't resolve an argument with a child.

[ a pause ]
So beneath his facade, his emotions are still human-like, is what you mean. And if not reason, he may respond to pathos?
[ She has a hard time believing that, but what other options do they have?
(If only she was from a later canonpoint, she would be more on board with psychoanalyzing the crazy god-complex mastermind. alas.) ]
...it is hard not to. She was under my care, and she was still murdered. [ a pause ] But there is not much use dwelling on it, I suppose. I cannot change the past, now.
[ for a second, she lets herself smile. but it fades as quickly as it came. ]
You have a very calming presence, you know. Thank you for...speaking with me honestly.

I think that whether we like it or not, trying to understand the Sage's mindset and treating him as more than a cartoon villain can only be to our advantage. Will he listen to us? Perhaps not... but an angry mob is easier to dismiss than individuals that he has come to understand and show reciprocal interest in understanding him, wouldn't you say?
I'm not a gambler, but considering what's at stake... this is the best option going forward.
[She does smile back at Hanyuu, though like Hanyuu's own smile, it's a little tired and brief.]
I don't think I've been a very calming presence, but I'm glad to hear that it is. I'm tired of fighting amongst ourselves, you know? [She looks up at the starry sky.] I do think that in any case, neither Rika-chan nor Tiki-chan would've blamed you for what happened and both would be distressed to hear that you blame yourself.
