Week 6

Sunday - Thursday

Another week of misfortune has passed by and while the end result is that there won't be any issues to anyone's existence being altered for the worst, it doesn't mean anyone's celebrating. If anything, the stressful machinations of the recent trial would require some of you to have someone champion some sort of recuperation amongst you in an attempt to relieve the strain. Whether or not its entirely successful in doing so is up to each individual. After all, there are some of you who are naturally able to endure more than others.

There's not even much time for that before the dawn of the next week is upon the castle. As it comes, everything seems quiet, which is understandable, considering that five lives were lost in the previous week.

Of course, the next best thing to focus on would be what's been newly revealed within the castle. It'll help most of you get your mind off of the current situation to an extent—distractions have a way of making that possible. Presuming, by chance, you do find yourself taking a peek at the sakura tree, you'll notice that the buds have started to finally open up. Is it time for spring at last? If so, you might find yourself wishing that the season would suddenly find itself on hold.

I have no idea. I'd say parts of the text might still be considered valuable, but most of the book has been torn out it seems.

No, but I know someone who specializes with all type of weapons. He once talked about crossbow bolts, although he never used any. Useful information, really.

Yeah. But if it was that big of an issue, you'd think that they should've made it clearer instead of just giving us a vague as fuck rule.

Don't know what a Yakuza is to be quite honest so I can't really be bothered by that. To some a spy is the worst sort of person and it was reason enough for all of us to be given a death sentence in Numara.

That's exactly what I mean - there's no proof, ya know? Just their word for it. An' it seems like if the only real issue that happens is that other people get their traits accentuated - it's like ya said, that ain't no real deterrent.

The middle one is the one I'm least certain of myself.

[She frowns slightly.]

Scrying is also the word I'm most unsure about. I'm only guessing after all.

No, you're not. Are you saying that because you truly don't think something is wrong, or because you don't want my care?

Yeah, I just can't help but think there's something more he's plotting and don't want to even consider that we won't figure it out until its too late and someone is dead.

It's a little morbid, but... it doesn't seem terribly out of place.

That only seems like it happens if they're broken. Unless other people've been having mood changes that they haven't said anything about, removing them doesn't do the same thing.

[Because there's been enough punishments that those sorts of things would come out... Hm.]

Maybe we should ask how long it takes for the corruption to set in.

That I can help with. Scrying refers to a means of predicting the future with magic. If I remember right, the spell often uses something like a pool of water or a mirror.

We're on the same page. They made the rule 'cause allegedly removin' it or breakin' it causes corruption hopin no one would do anythin'. But when they did, you'd expect ta see some kinda effect, only all ya get is this random heightenin' of some trait.

That's a good question' ta ask. See what their story is.

They're out connection ta our worlds, apparently. And they stay connected even after we die. That's about it.

[Ayumu sits up, still looking well.... unwell, to put it mildly, and looks at Rosalind sharply.]

How about option 3: Because admitting to anything one way or another in this instance could be a potential risk to my wellbeing?

[Listen, he liked Rosalind. He did. But speaking aloud about such things such as impromptu naps or illness or whatever this was was... well, stupidly risky.]

[ It does in fact! The mirror kind of just...absorbs the pearl. The glass on it is still broken, but it fuses together to form a light opaque blue, almost liquid.

And then clearer (man is this easier than bubbles), words will form, in a very elegant almost pretentious hand: ]
