Week 6

Sunday - Thursday

Another week of misfortune has passed by and while the end result is that there won't be any issues to anyone's existence being altered for the worst, it doesn't mean anyone's celebrating. If anything, the stressful machinations of the recent trial would require some of you to have someone champion some sort of recuperation amongst you in an attempt to relieve the strain. Whether or not its entirely successful in doing so is up to each individual. After all, there are some of you who are naturally able to endure more than others.

There's not even much time for that before the dawn of the next week is upon the castle. As it comes, everything seems quiet, which is understandable, considering that five lives were lost in the previous week.

Of course, the next best thing to focus on would be what's been newly revealed within the castle. It'll help most of you get your mind off of the current situation to an extent—distractions have a way of making that possible. Presuming, by chance, you do find yourself taking a peek at the sakura tree, you'll notice that the buds have started to finally open up. Is it time for spring at last? If so, you might find yourself wishing that the season would suddenly find itself on hold.

[ thursday morning visitors to the kitchen will find a small stack of papers and a scroll with another note:

[Misora routinely keeps her pendant tucked underneath her shirt and keeps a wad of fabric tied around it so she's all set with precautions on that front. She reads the scroll first, looking contemplative as she considers the words and the "M" signed at the end. Anyone who happens to be in the kitchen and watching her reaction closely should be able to tell that none of this seems to be registering as new information to her.

The stack of papers, on the other hand, get a far less subtle reaction as she does a double take almost immediately. This so obviously can't be what she thinks, so she recomposes herself quickly, reads carefully and puts the papers back in order.

You been talkin' ta the Sage a lot, Misora-san?

[ i mean, obviously he's interested in what people have to say about them. but in that nonchalant way of like wow i happened to be here closely watching your reaction to those papers i definitely didn't leave out!!! you know how it goes. ]

[Yes, sure Majima can be contrived about this if he wants to, Misora will be skeptical one way or another.]

No more than usual, Majima-san.

Seems kind of messy to leave these where anyone can find them.

[Once again, there is new reading material in the library. However, unlike last week, the papers have been left at a low height and very obviously sticking out from between books. So low, in fact, that Tiki will have an easy time seeing and picking them out, should she wish.

Look, everyone needs a little lighthearted reading material every now and then. As for Hiyono, she can be found pulling out romance novels to read while she pretends not to notice anyone who takes a look.]

[Wishing Pool]

[Eventually it's time for the weekly wishing pool visit. She heads on over with her rabbit backpack, tossing in some coins and retrieving the items that come flying out. The tantou in particular catches her eye...]

More weapons... Although this one's a little late, isn't it?

[What with. The armory being a thing.]

[ Naturally Nishitani is heading to see Pond-kun when he sees that particular tantou she's picked up. ]

Ah, hey! Hiyono-chan!

[ He waves at her, quickly making his way over to her. ]

Damn, I didn't think it'd show up, either. That one's mine. [ He grins. Look, it's plain-looking, but it's familiar. ] Ain't as pretty as Majima's but it gets the same job done, eh?

[Oh hey, it's Nishitani. She turns to him, holding up the tantou.]

So this is yours? I suppose I shouldn't be surprised...

[Majima had mentioned he didn't particularly have any need or want for guns before.]

[ He will gladly take that, thank you kindly, Hiyono. ]

Yeah, that's right! [ He grips it in both hands, holding it up to the light, then bringing it close to his heart. Geez, dude. ] Ahhh, it's been too damn long! I always liketa keep this thing on me, ya know? Ain't a better knife in the world than a good tantou!

[It's not so hard to find the new reading material. Rosalind skims it, and then rereads it as she notices her name. But oh, this is-- and there's really no other word for it-- cute. Cute and sweet, and though she isn't smiling, there's something lighter in her gaze.]

I rather like that I'm still aloof.

[She calls it out to the figure so obviously engrossed in her romance novels.]

[Hiyono peers up from behind her book that she's very definitely reading.]

It's a cute little story, isn't it? I must say the characterization isn't bad, either.

[WELL, OKAY, IF THINGS ARE SO OBVIOUSLY IN HER RANGE SHE'S GOTTA LOOK AT THEM. IS IT A CLUE???

it is not a clue, but Tiki spends a short little while sitting down and reading it, a curious expression on her face—she's all starry-eyed, absolutely, but maybe a little sad...? And then she sets it back where she found it and scurries off. Bye.

A little later, a...ghost..???? comes back?????? no it's just Tiki with a white blanket with eye cut-outs over her head. no one else is this small. you can see her little pink shoes. she...got a sheet ghost costume from the pond... why is she wearing it. honey.

but she's crouching down after a decent amount of bumbling about, her outfit offers little in the way of peripheral vision, and tucking a sheet of paper right next to the spot with Hiyono's latest story. hmmmmmmm!!!!]

[Hiyono watches the whole thing from behind her book, smiling a satisfied smile as Tiki runs off. Mission accomplished!

...But then she comes back as a little ghost and, ah... this was... less expected?]

Tiki-chan? Is that you?

[Who else could it possibly be - but no, best to be nice about it.]

[He's been spending a lot of time in the library these days, it seemed. In all honesty though, it wasn't too different from when he'd lived at home; reading had always been his pastime when there was nothing else to do. So of course he's bound to spot at least one of those papers peeking out. There's an obviously skeptical expression on his face when he slips it out from between the book and--

He pauses.

...

Right, well. That's going to be slipped back into the shelves quietly. There's something slightly thoughtful in his expression, but he won't say anything out loud at the moment.]

[She waits for a while, to see if he gives any more of a reaction, but...

Since he's failing her in that regard, she finally gives in and walks up to him.]

Oh? Is that kind of story more your style?

Pond-kun, or: You gave Nishitani A BEAR TRAP?

[ So the rest of the stuff he's gotten is pretty normal. Getting another box of cigarettes? That's sweet. Getting a whip? Useful for certain things, you know. Getting a fucking bear trap, though, that's... ridiculous. And you know Nishitani is enough of an asshole to consider using this thing. He's actually trying to work it open. ]

Hey, can ya gimme a hand with this? Think it might take some teamwork!

[ Teamwork shouldn't be wasted on a literal bear trap, Nishitani. ]

[ Nishitani's at the library, having a smoke. Please feel free to tell him smoking indoors isn't a thing. He's from the 80s. That aside, he's not wearing his usual suit. Instead, he's wearing his new jacket with a fuzzy collar, and he seems to be toying with the friendship bracelet while he turns the pages on his book. He's acting his age for once. How rare. Feel free to bother him, he's probably reading mermaid smut to be honest. ]

[ Nishitani laughs. Loudly. He really could get himself in some serious trouble, huh?? ]

[It's the natural place to start looking for a name, right? Rosalind is going to spend most of the day here, though she has one more place she wants to look once she's done . . . but no, first thing's first, let's look through the library.]

[She's also gonna be poking around here! But not all the time; some of the time she's going to be going through her things in her room, eyeing the shogi set curiously. Her bedroom door is open, so come and say hello!]
