week 6

Week 6
Sunday - Thursday

Another week of misfortune has passed by and while the end result is that there won't be any issues to anyone's existence being altered for the worst, it doesn't mean anyone's celebrating. If anything, the stressful machinations of the recent trial would require some of you to have someone champion some sort of recuperation amongst you in an attempt to relieve the strain. Whether or not its entirely successful in doing so is up to each individual. After all, there are some of you who are naturally able to endure more than others.

There's not even much time for that before the dawn of the next week is upon the castle. As it comes, everything seems quiet, which is understandable, considering that five lives were lost in the previous week.

Of course, the next best thing to focus on would be what's been newly revealed within the castle. It'll help most of you get your mind off of the current situation to an extent—distractions have a way of making that possible. Presuming, by chance, you do find yourself taking a peek at the sakura tree, you'll notice that the buds have started to finally open up. Is it time for spring at last? If so, you might find yourself wishing that the season would suddenly find itself on hold.

[Misora routinely keeps her pendant tucked underneath her shirt and keeps a wad of fabric tied around it so she's all set with precautions on that front. She reads the scroll first, looking contemplative as she considers the words and the "M" signed at the end. Anyone who happens to be in the kitchen and watching her reaction closely should be able to tell that none of this seems to be registering as new information to her.

The stack of papers, on the other hand, get a far less subtle reaction as she does a double take almost immediately. This so obviously can't be what she thinks, so she recomposes herself quickly, reads carefully and puts the papers back in order.

You been talkin' ta the Sage a lot, Misora-san?

[ i mean, obviously he's interested in what people have to say about them. but in that nonchalant way of like wow i happened to be here closely watching your reaction to those papers i definitely didn't leave out!!! you know how it goes. ]

[personal profile] gyakusatsu 2017-09-07 06:36 am (UTC)(link)
[Yes, sure Majima can be contrived about this if he wants to, Misora will be skeptical one way or another.]

No more than usual, Majima-san.

[Which is to say, "a lot" is really pushing it.]

Where did you find these?
maddogs: (i want it bad)

[personal profile] maddogs 2017-09-07 06:43 am (UTC)(link)
I didn't say I found them.

[ he shrugs - except i mean, she knows he found the one he showed her before so. obviously at least one of them came from the music room, as he indicated to her in their last meeting ]

Ya jus' seem awfully unsurprised by the battle shit. Was it Teishu who told ya, then?

[personal profile] gyakusatsu 2017-09-07 07:12 am (UTC)(link)
[Alright fine, be coy Majima!!

But in all seriousness, as far as she's concerned what she knows isn't a secret.
]

No, it was the Sage who told me about it. You remember that note I showed you from the infirmary? I asked the Sage about it and he told me -- reluctantly and with great sadness, I might add -- that the man who wrote it was his comrade. A person who perished in battle.
maddogs: (nothing on me)

[personal profile] maddogs 2017-09-07 07:16 am (UTC)(link)
[ at least she's forthcoming - a highly hypocritical standard - but he relaxes nonetheless and for her troubles gives her info in kind. ]

Yeah, he usedta have an active role on the battlefield with his unit. They followed him, totally fuckin' devoted.

[personal profile] gyakusatsu 2017-09-07 07:38 am (UTC)(link)
[She wonders how much arm twisting on Majima's part that it took to get the Sage to divulge that, but that's a less important detail. Frowning slightly, she does nod in agreement there.]

The Sage spoke of him in glowing terms. Apparently, he was kind, forgiving and looked out for others. I think the irony that is his utter failure to follow in his friend's footsteps may be a little lost on him.

[But then again, maybe not... though this time, she pauses to see what Majima has to say about it.]
maddogs: (i wouldnt do)

[personal profile] maddogs 2017-09-07 03:25 pm (UTC)(link)
[ majima smiles at her comment, just barely, but there all the same. it's a good deal better, in his estimation, than a lot of the theories he'd heard yesterday. ]

'course he doesn't see it. His army all thought he was the same way. He probably think he's a fuckin' swell guy - an' who are we ta tell him otherwise?
gyakusatsu: (三十三)

[personal profile] gyakusatsu 2017-09-07 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
[She smiles faintly in return, but it doesn't last long. This conversation has prompted a couple of thoughts and while she isn't certain about them, she does want to use Majima as a soundboard.]

You know, Majima-san... I'm curious. What was your opinion on Senhime-san? More specifically did she seem, to you, a good judge of character or was she a person who was easily fooled?
maddogs: (gets me so high (so high))

[personal profile] maddogs 2017-09-08 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, Sen...

[ it hasn't been sen-hime-chan since that awful trial. other people he might have been more forgiving with their murders, but he's been pretty consistently cold about sen ever since hers. ]

I think that she was over confident.
gyakusatsu: (八)

[personal profile] gyakusatsu 2017-09-08 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
[She notices that, but doesn't comment on it as that's entirely besides the point.]

She seemed to believe the Sage was acting in the interest of the greater good of his own people... that our lives were worth sacrificing for the sake of saving many. [Misora keeps her tone carefully neutral there.] She left him a message telling him to hold his head up high and to continue on a difficult and thankless path.

[A beat.] The Teishu on the other hand on the other hand told me that I was "not incorrect" to infer from a conversation I had with him that the true purpose of the ritual is to give the Sage either god-like powers or to become a God himself.

Those accounts don't have to be mutually exclusive, of course. The Sage could be attempting to gain this power to get rid of corruption, but.... am I correct in assuming you favor the view that Senhime-san was entirely mistaken about the Sage?
maddogs: (get me there fast)

[personal profile] maddogs 2017-09-08 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
Dang, listen ta ya, Misora-san! All this shit ya've figured out. Ya really are a good cop.

[ hm thats decidedly not an answer but!! ]
gyakusatsu: (五十八)

[personal profile] gyakusatsu 2017-09-08 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
[That is indeed not an answer and she raises an eyebrow. She's not angry, but there's a bit of a "it's gonna take a bit more than a compliment to distract me here" kinda look about her.]

Majima-san, an answer please.
maddogs: (it's too hard to sleep)

[personal profile] maddogs 2017-09-08 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I guess my opinion isn't that important on it, ya know? I wasn't a very good judge of Sen's character.
gyakusatsu: (十)

[personal profile] gyakusatsu 2017-09-08 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
[And neither was she, which is why she's asking. But she concedes that point to Majima - ultimately two weeks is simply not long enough to get a firm grasp on the inner workings of another person's mind.]

Fair enough. So what do you make of all this, Majime-san?
maddogs: (oh just the thought of you)

[personal profile] maddogs 2017-09-08 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
Wish people would stop fuckin' killin' each other. This week's motive is especially stupid.

[ he sighs ]

I mentioned this yesterday - but one of the groups, they killed each other. Everyone was dead.
gyakusatsu: (三十七)

[personal profile] gyakusatsu 2017-09-08 07:40 pm (UTC)(link)
That motive seemed oddly specific, didn't it? It's almost as though the Sage is trying to goad one of us in particular to act rather than providing a more generically "appealing" incentive.

[But she's sighing, too.]

I floated this idea to Madam Lutece on Sunday, but the longer I think about it, the less implausible it seems that from the start they were primarily interested in collecting twenty one souls.
maddogs: (i tip the driver 'head of time)

[personal profile] maddogs 2017-09-08 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Collecting twenty one souls rather than nine warriors?

[ he does seem to be considering this seriously. ]

It'd almost make more sense, I guess. 'cause it's always seemed ta me the nine that'd be left wouldn't've proved anythin' but not gettin' killed.
gyakusatsu: (十八)

[personal profile] gyakusatsu 2017-09-08 07:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Exactly. It'd also explain why they killed over relatively minor offenses as well.

[A beat.]

Not that I can prove this, but either way... if all we're doing by killing each other is bringing the Sage closer to god-status, then this has to stop.
maddogs: (i want to want me)

[personal profile] maddogs 2017-09-08 08:00 pm (UTC)(link)
This needed ta stop regardless of his motive.
gyakusatsu: (六十二)

[personal profile] gyakusatsu 2017-09-08 08:09 pm (UTC)(link)
[... that actually gets her to laugh a little tiredly.]

It did, you're right. Forgive me for saying so, but I never expected to hear a sentiment like "murder is wrong on principle" from you.
maddogs: (theres nothing i wouldnt do)

[personal profile] maddogs 2017-09-08 08:13 pm (UTC)(link)
It's fine, that's a fair assumption of Yakuza.

[ he shrugs ]

But even within the Yakuza, we don't jus' fuckin' murder civilians for no reason.

[ some exceptions apply... ]
gyakusatsu: (三十七)

[personal profile] gyakusatsu 2017-09-09 01:08 am (UTC)(link)
[She is skeptical of that last part, yeah. But speaking generally.. yeah, she'd buy that. People usually don't kill unprovoked, unless they're sickos in human skin.]

It's not that people are killing without reason here... they're just not very good ones.

[She sighs.]

If anyone does end up killing over this week's motive though.... they'd better pray to their maker that they aren't caught. This motive was the stupidest reason by far and I don't think anyone has much patience left.
maddogs: (wearing nothing but a smile)

[personal profile] maddogs 2017-09-09 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
[ majima laughs ]

Fuck, ain't that the truth? 'specially if the trials are gonna keep bein' so goddamn frustratin'. At least let it be over a good reason.
gyakusatsu: (六十五)

[personal profile] gyakusatsu 2017-09-09 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
[She grins a little at that.]

You weren't even there for the last one. I'm sure you must've built up some reserve patience for those dreary things by now.

(no subject)
