week 6

Week 6
Sunday - Thursday

Another week of misfortune has passed by and while the end result is that there won't be any issues to anyone's existence being altered for the worst, it doesn't mean anyone's celebrating. If anything, the stressful machinations of the recent trial would require some of you to have someone champion some sort of recuperation amongst you in an attempt to relieve the strain. Whether or not its entirely successful in doing so is up to each individual. After all, there are some of you who are naturally able to endure more than others.

There's not even much time for that before the dawn of the next week is upon the castle. As it comes, everything seems quiet, which is understandable, considering that five lives were lost in the previous week.

Of course, the next best thing to focus on would be what's been newly revealed within the castle. It'll help most of you get your mind off of the current situation to an extent—distractions have a way of making that possible. Presuming, by chance, you do find yourself taking a peek at the sakura tree, you'll notice that the buds have started to finally open up. Is it time for spring at last? If so, you might find yourself wishing that the season would suddenly find itself on hold.

originallutece: It's not going well (talk; reading isaac asimov)

[It doesn't work, but Rosalind watches with interest anyway, because new things are very nearly always interesting. So . . . this can fire magic (magic, she hates that word) projectiles, hm?]

I'm surprised the Sage didn't activate it. It seems rather useful for killing.

...I guess some of my arts could be, yeah. [He frowns down at the ARCUS as he flips it closed. He doesn't seem to enjoy that thought.] Mostly, I specialize in healing, though. And in that case, I can see exactly why the Sage wouldn't activate it.
originallutece: (talk; hmm--?)

How precisely do you heal? I realize magic, but-- does it regenerate cells at an accelerated rate? Stitch bones together?

Something like that, yeah. [A little shrug? Listen, he just knows that it works, not precisely how.] There's a limit on what it can do, obviously - fatal wounds are still gonna be fatal - but cuts and bruises and stuff just close and heal up like nothing was ever there.

Not sure anything I can do is strong enough to heal a broken bone. [That's actual magic territory. Or Instructor Beatrix, which as far as he's concerned, might as well also be actual magic.] But it'd still be more helpful than the nothing we've got.
originallutece: a flying cityyyy? (talk; do you want to build)

What's the worst injury you've healed?

[It actually, oddly enough, makes her believe him a bit more. Not that she thought he was lying, but there's only so far the word magic takes her. But something that can accelerate cell growth . . . yes, she can understand that.]

[Elliot pauses, thinking for a second.]

My classmates have gotten some pretty nasty gashes in a couple of fights. Something that might've normally taken stitches or staples. Definitely woulda left a scar otherwise.

That would be useful here.

Truth be told, I'm still a bit surprised none of us were allowed to keep our powers. I understand the so-called interest in fairness, but . . . mm. Some of the people here are helpless without them.

[It's idle talk; Rosalind shrugs.]

[Bitterly:] You're telling me.

[Sigh.]

I'm no "warrior" even with everything working. Put me in here like this, and honestly I'm starting to wonder how it is that I'm still breathing.
