week 6
Week 6
Sunday - Thursday
Another week of misfortune has passed by and while the end result is that there won't be any issues to anyone's existence being altered for the worst, it doesn't mean anyone's celebrating. If anything, the stressful machinations of the recent trial would require some of you to have someone champion some sort of recuperation amongst you in an attempt to relieve the strain. Whether or not its entirely successful in doing so is up to each individual. After all, there are some of you who are naturally able to endure more than others.
There's not even much time for that before the dawn of the next week is upon the castle. As it comes, everything seems quiet, which is understandable, considering that five lives were lost in the previous week.
Of course, the next best thing to focus on would be what's been newly revealed within the castle. It'll help most of you get your mind off of the current situation to an extent—distractions have a way of making that possible. Presuming, by chance, you do find yourself taking a peek at the sakura tree, you'll notice that the buds have started to finally open up. Is it time for spring at last? If so, you might find yourself wishing that the season would suddenly find itself on hold.

You can contact the sage with your pendants here, and the teishu here.)

[Said with some somberness, he aims with the crossbow and shoots--
His aim is true. The shot is about the equivalent of a gutshot when it hits, though an inch or two off. Didn't he say he'd never used a real weapon before?]
And maybe you're right, someone probably would have died. That's still little comfort when you consider three people are dead so some of us could survive the week.

Of all the weeks people ought to have held back.. this one was it. Even if the Sage was capable of carrying out the threat, he wouldn't have eliminated five warriors who were in his game.
[A beat.]
Not that anything can be done about that now. [DEEP SIGH.]
I should've ripped that supmachine gun out of his hands.

[He lowers the crossbow, reaching for another bolt at well. He really didn't like the recoil on these, but other than that they were more convenient than something that would require him to get up close and personal.]
Honestly, I don't know. It was a terrible thing, but who knows what the Teishu would have done to Mako otherwise? Mako said 'Do it'... Maybe he wanted it that way.
no subject
[But it's not like the current pool of people who survived up until now have shown a particular kind of cunning either. They're all people who've made it by virtue of choosing not to kill and not being at the wrong place. ... or well. In Zero's case...
Misora's expression just turns bitter as she aims at the target another time. The bolt shoots through the air and hits the torso.]
Afterwards, I meant. Mako never deserved to die for what he did, but since this place has no justice a quick and painless death was best. [A beat.] Or maybe even before the trial at the pond....
[Scowling at herself as she picks up another bolt.]
What the hell was I even thinking? There's no such thing as a teenager that can be trusted to own a submachine gun.
no subject
You're right. Though I think I'd amend that to 'I'd rather no one have a submachine gun.', personally.
[Really, that sort of firepower was overkill in a place like this.]
no subject
Ideally there wouldn't be a need for guns in the first place.
[She tries not to sound weary about it, but at this point weariness has become the aura she exudes.]
But all the wishful thinking in the world won't change it and....
[She trails off and aims at the target once again. They're out of turn, but she doubts it matters. She fires the crossbow and gets a second bolt on the torso a couple of inches away from the first.]
...Mahiro-kun still has his. I'm really not cut out for this.
no subject
[So.... helpful??? He loads his crossbow finally, taking aim-- another torso shot, dead center. He wasn't sure he could get a headshot, but he'd rather not try for fatal blows to begin with.]
Hm, it would be better to disable the limbs really... If I have to, I don't want to kill with this even in self defense.
[Musing to himself for a moment, before back to the topic of Mahiro--] I think his motivation for Mako's death was simply he wanted to be the one to deal the killing blow, not the Teishu. Revenge.

[But her words seem to lack energy behind them. She really is, for better or for worse, tired. Tired of nagging even, except to do it on autopilot.]
Not that I don't understand how you feel, but mercy is a luxury, Ayumu-kun.
[She sighs.]
And no, that doesn't make me feel better, but thanks for trying.
no subject
[He was just getting used to the feel of it, right now. But maybe later.... In spite of Misora's words, he seems to be considering practicing just that anyway, from the look on his face.]
It wouldn't hurt to at least practice, right? For the times when a target is stationary.
no subject
That's not what she wants to say. It's not what she wants to know.
She looks Ayumu in the eye and if he lets her, she'll touch his shoulder. She knows he's going to hate that and she might apologize for it later, but she has to know and she wants an honest answer.]
Is my opinion actually going to change your mind?
[Her tone is soft and perhaps that along with the unnecessary contact is what so thoroughly betrays the fact that at the core of this, this isn't really about Ayumu or Mahiro... or a handful of kids that don't listen, but something Misora's been sitting on in her mind for some time.]
no subject
She seemed..... torn, about something. Something deeper than his aim, or the possible need to use this crossbow in the future. He's quiet for a moment before he lets out a short breath.]
I have important reasons for not wanting to kill even in self-defense, Misora-san... but at the same time, I'm wondering if this is really about my aim.
no subject
Yes... and no?
[She gives him an affectionate shoulder squeeze before letting her arm drop back down to her side.]
I've been thinking about the lessons I've learned here and my life past this castle.. well. [She starts resetting her cross bow.] I don't think I'll be staying with the FBI anymore. I'm not effective enough to justify staying.
[Like really, look at this. Can't even talk Ayumu into scrapping the idea that a crossbow is a defensive weapon. DEEP SIGH.]
That's it.
no subject
[He quirks a brow at that once she moves away. To compare work in the FBI with a place like this seemed, to Ayumu, just a little....]
I don't see why you'd say something like that, really. This situation and crime back home have key factors that don't coincide well, and even considering that, you've still effectively functioned in some capacity to maintain order in a chaotic and uncontrollable situation. Perhaps not as well as you'd have hoped, but I'm certain many would struggle even more.
