Week 7

Sunday - Thursday

With the loss of two more warriors, the castle has grown even quieter still. Such a thing was always bound to become a consequence of your stay here, though the actual reality of it may be more unpleasant. There's been little in the way of parties, which isn't too much of a surprise given your dwindling numbers, but it's still better than nothing, correct?

As with every other week, new locations have been unveiled for you all to either explore or use to casually gather within. If you've been keeping an eye on the cherry blossoms, you'll note that they look just about ready to bloom. The important thing is, of course, that they haven't. But it's only a matter of time, now.

TUESDAY MEETING WOO

[Right. Well, they've all known they can't go home until all of this is over with, so as far as Hiyono's concerned, it's time to keep on keeping on.]

Has anyone found anything new in the past week? And also, I know many of us have been speaking with Sage-san and Teishu-san. We should pool what we know and decide on what else to speak with them about.

As for me... I've gotten conflicting reports from them. Teishu-san thinks Sage-san is interested in immortality, but Sage-san insisted that he's too young to worry about such things. He's younger than thirty years old... is what he told me, anyway. Obviously, since there's a contradiction, one side must be lying whether they realize it or not.

Teishu-san also told me that not all gods are immortal. Apparently he's special, although he wouldn't tell me the secrets to immortality. [WHICH IS RUDE, BECAUSE OBVIOUSLY SHE WOULD NEVER USE THIS KNOWLEDGE FOR NEFARIOUS PURPOSES OR ANYTHING.]

I don't think I need to remind anyone that there's more going on here than we know... Let's hurry and try to beat them at their own game.

Gee, I wonder who's more likely ta be lyin' ta us. The guy stuck here cause Sage-chan bound him to here, or the asshole who orchestrated this whole fuckin' bullshit.

Sage-chan's a fuckin' liar. He wants ta be immortal like Teishu-kun. That's why he's doin' all this dumb bullshit and why he's gone and tried so many times. Third time's the charm, yeah?

Teishu-san did tell me that the way to become immortal would require Sage-san to leave this world, which he refuses to do. So even if he wants to become a god, I don't think immortality is quite it...

It ain't like there's much lefta this one, with all the corruption bullshit goin' on.

Ya seem ta have gotten more outta 'im than I have, Hiyono-chan. Why would Sage-chan wanna stay?

Because the Sage considers his duty to be the most important thing to him.

It's all he has left apparently.

How do ya know that? I know Teishu-kun loves justice and honor, but I ain't ever heard Sage-chan tell me that... What's his duty supposedta be, anyway?

I've been talking with the Sage. I think if we want to figure out how to stop this, we need to understand the motivations of all involved. "Know thy enemy" and all that.

[Ayumu produces a piece of paper, sliding it across the table.]

These are things I've heard from the Sage himself on his motivations. Take it with a grain of salt-- I certainly am, but it doesn't mean there isn't something to be learned from it all.

[ his tone is even, not accusing ayumu of anything but he's clearly curious ]

When we talked ta Emperor-han, ya seemed...pretty insistent that Teishu was your enemy, not Sage.

I was insistent that people consider that the name of the Teishu was what we needed to find. If he's been bound, it's possible that it was by the theft of his name, according to folklore.

[A shrug. He won't deny however, that he trusts neither Sage, Teishu or Emperor.]

But you're right-- I don't trust any of them. Gods especially are manipulators where I come from. I wouldn't trust the Teishu's words like you and Nishitani, but neither am I trusting the Sage.

Damn, kid, callin' us out. I mean, that's fair I guess. But damn.

Did you ever consider that what the Teishu needed for freedom could be his name?

The Teishu considers his bond to the Sage to be akin to slavery. I know we've mentioned that before, and certainly we've seen evidence of that a few times, but it's a striking difference from how the Sage classifies it. I wonder if that's the result of an unwillingness to face an unpleasant truth, or a simple lie.

I wonder.... it could be both.

[He taps the paper.]

It could be the Teishu agreed to something in the past, but misunderstood the Sage's intentions or was deliberately misled. The Sage is.... extreme, to put it lightly. He'd do anything to fulfill his duty. I wouldn't put it past him to enslave a god, to be honest.

[When Mahiro arrives, he'll just put down two pages of notes on the table, although from the handwriting and styles it's pretty clear that they were penned by different people. He also brought along the biting book and the note from the yesterday's meeting too because why not??]

Feel free to ask me about any of this, although I can't elaborate on the shit Miyamura wrote. ...This one might be a little more relevant 'cause of the motive though.

[He taps a finger on the second page of notes.]

Oh, hey -- this first part. The bit about this place bein' chosen for 'im? The Sage's boss gave 'im this castle. Least, that's what he said when I asked 'im.

[ He seemed surprised that people don't get handed castles, but that was probably sarcasm. ]

Ah, and uh... This is gonna sound hilarious comin' from me, but I maybe wouldn't wanna get on his bad side. Fucker's kinda a sadist. Really enjoyed me tellin' him how I'd kill anybody that betrayed me.

Makes sense if this place was set up specifically for all this shit.

Miyamura's already dead anyways. It's not like I'm the one needling him about his sex life.

Right, it all works out fer why everythin's so damn fancy. An' why the Archives're hidden behind that huge-ass door.

[ That's also Important. But Nishitani laughs, because, yeah. If anyone needs to watch out for the Sage, it's... well, him and Majima. ]

Yeaaah, it sounded like Emperor-han met a real fitting end, the way Sage-chan tells it. He wouldn't get inta details, but I'm guessin' it wasn't pretty.

Poison is an insult to the food. Not that I think he wouldn't already be prepared for that anyway. And Miyamura's right-- he's... very emotional at times.

[To put it lightly. He makes a noise of consideration.]

Where does the corruption come from? I've never gotten an opening to ask the Sage, and the Teishu says it isn't his business. He also told me he cannot purify this world with his powers as a god.

It's too damn obvious an opening.

[Especially in a castle where everyone hates him. Honestly, it's kind of surprising he takes food from any of them at all.]

That's something to ask him about. If it's linked to black magic somehow, it might be because that shit was overused or something, but we don't know enough about how things work here to make that assumption anyways.

It is, and I'm not risking my life to test his preparedness.

[He leans back in his chair.]

I'll see about doing that-- He's fond of sweets, I can make some to give him and ask a few questions while I do.

Miyamura-kun had found all this out? That's...pretty damn impressive.

I knew that much! He was always real good in trials. It's more that...he was kinda quiet? But I guess it's always the quiet fuckers who know the most, huh?
