week 6

Week 6
Sunday - Thursday

Another week of misfortune has passed by and while the end result is that there won't be any issues to anyone's existence being altered for the worst, it doesn't mean anyone's celebrating. If anything, the stressful machinations of the recent trial would require some of you to have someone champion some sort of recuperation amongst you in an attempt to relieve the strain. Whether or not its entirely successful in doing so is up to each individual. After all, there are some of you who are naturally able to endure more than others.

There's not even much time for that before the dawn of the next week is upon the castle. As it comes, everything seems quiet, which is understandable, considering that five lives were lost in the previous week.

Of course, the next best thing to focus on would be what's been newly revealed within the castle. It'll help most of you get your mind off of the current situation to an extent—distractions have a way of making that possible. Presuming, by chance, you do find yourself taking a peek at the sakura tree, you'll notice that the buds have started to finally open up. Is it time for spring at last? If so, you might find yourself wishing that the season would suddenly find itself on hold.

[Mahiro's just gonna interrupt here to slide out a paper with three separate lists of colors and traits.]

Here. That's what we came up with so far. The most we're probably certain on is for people with onyx pendants.

[personal profile] godinsolitude 2017-09-06 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
We also approached this from the logic that this would be primarily Japanese color association.

I'm sure you've noticed the history section contains mainly texts from the Heian to Edo period by now.
maddogs: (nothing on me)

[personal profile] maddogs 2017-09-06 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
Mm. There's a lot of Japanese stuff here. Have ya compared ta a list of people's pendant colors?
godinsolitude: (pic#6566608)

[personal profile] godinsolitude 2017-09-06 02:20 am (UTC)(link)
We have about 20 of them listed, of the living and dead. The problem is we'd need a large enough pool to compare.
maddogs: (i tip the driver 'head of time)

[personal profile] maddogs 2017-09-06 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
Ya tried askin' Hiyono-chan about the others? She's got a pretty sharp eye.
pseudoregelia: (and yet)

[personal profile] pseudoregelia 2017-09-06 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
Ahh, actually...

I'm the one who made the list.

[Surprise!]
maddogs: (nothing on me)

[personal profile] maddogs 2017-09-06 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
Ya missed some people? I'm surprised.
pseudoregelia: (How come you)

[personal profile] pseudoregelia 2017-09-06 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
Kurosaki-san was very careful about his pendant. He always kept it under his hoodie... There are others who weren't very sociable, either.

[Hiyono, he was trying to keep that on the down low so you didn't make a target of yourself--]

It was breakfast during the first week.

[Yes these crafty brats actually did this while playing nice with everyone.]

Some people wear them under their shirts.

irrationalities: (♚ this is stupid.)

[personal profile] irrationalities 2017-09-06 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, we had that covered too.

[Aaaaand he'll scribble something on the back of the original page akin to this although Ayumu will notice that huh. The list is more complete than what he might've remembered last.]

There was also something that happened to me and Lutece on Wednesday when Eizen broke his pendant. We both felt a lot more motivated, so it looks like whatever these things are, they connect us to whoever's wearing the same colors as us too.
maddogs: (cause i gotta leave yeah)

[personal profile] maddogs 2017-09-06 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
I remember Lutece-han bein' like that. That's kinda crazy, huh? Maybe it's meant as a deterrent.
irrationalities: (♚ it's from over there.)

[personal profile] irrationalities 2017-09-06 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
Kind of a shitty deterrent though.

[Another thought though...]

We thought it could've just exaggerated the trait we were given these for, but I don't know enough about gemstone symbolism to say anything more than that.
maddogs: (and if you want me)

[personal profile] maddogs 2017-09-06 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
Hm, I wonder if that means breakin' it's not really that bad of a thing, then. Other than for them listenin' in, of course.
irrationalities: (♚ that's all there is to it.)

[personal profile] irrationalities 2017-09-06 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
[There's a bit of a pause before he continues nonchalantly.]

Unless I got lied to, breaking 'em or taking them off's not a good idea, because we'll get corrupted.

I know I talkedta Sage-chan an' he said they keep all the pendants somewhere "safe." They don't destroy 'em or get rid of 'em or nothin', they're just locked up in some closet or some shit.

Motivated....?
irrationalities: (♚ because it doesn't make sense.)

[personal profile] irrationalities 2017-09-06 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
[You guys weren't the only ones keeping track--]

Yeah. I felt pretty focused on what I was doing; like I just had to get things done no matter what.

[It wasn't strictly negative but honestly... he may have been more irritable then too? Not that he'd necessarily admit it...]
devilsphysician: (huh?)

[personal profile] devilsphysician 2017-09-06 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
Red's a color of luck?

I also wonder if the specific stones have their own meanings aside from their color? For example, Opals are considered bad luck and Sapphires are said to ward off liars, we have a mixture of precious and semi-precious stones in our pendants.

The color seems to be the most important part, but there might be a reason to pick say a Ruby over a Garnet, and a Malachite over Emerald.

[personal profile] irrationalities 2017-09-06 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
In Japan it is. [Which is where he and Ayumu come from, so...]

Yeah, that's something to consider too but I don't know enough about gemstone meanings to interpret these. So unless someone else here can speak up about it, we're stuck with the books in the library.

I know a little, my sister's into all sorts of fortune-telling things, I suppose that's something all girls her age do, but nothing comprehensive.
irrationalities: (♚ there's something about that.)

Let's see....

[He rubs his chin, closing his eyes as he draws up the memory]

Rubies are stones associated with the sun, fire, and passion, Topaz with the golden hue has meaning with the earth, empathy, and stability, Onyx wards off curses such as the evil eye and it's said to promote wisdom, and self-improvement... Diamonds are too rare to be used in fortune-telling. I haven't heard Lillith mentioning Aquamarines or Malachites.

I have heard malachite has healing qualities.
devilsphysician: (Impish doctor)

[personal profile] devilsphysician 2017-09-06 05:09 am (UTC)(link)
Possible, I heard they grind up stones and animal horn to make medicines in the far east, so perhaps Malachites are among those ground up.
irrationalities: (♚ most boring thing i've heard.)

[personal profile] irrationalities 2017-09-06 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
Aquamarines are probably associated with water just 'cause of their name and look. Probably something about calmness, then.
