week 6
Week 6
Sunday - Thursday
Another week of misfortune has passed by and while the end result is that there won't be any issues to anyone's existence being altered for the worst, it doesn't mean anyone's celebrating. If anything, the stressful machinations of the recent trial would require some of you to have someone champion some sort of recuperation amongst you in an attempt to relieve the strain. Whether or not its entirely successful in doing so is up to each individual. After all, there are some of you who are naturally able to endure more than others.
There's not even much time for that before the dawn of the next week is upon the castle. As it comes, everything seems quiet, which is understandable, considering that five lives were lost in the previous week.
Of course, the next best thing to focus on would be what's been newly revealed within the castle. It'll help most of you get your mind off of the current situation to an extent—distractions have a way of making that possible. Presuming, by chance, you do find yourself taking a peek at the sakura tree, you'll notice that the buds have started to finally open up. Is it time for spring at last? If so, you might find yourself wishing that the season would suddenly find itself on hold.

[ aka: don't ask, probably. ]

So, instead:]
A slight difference between us, I suspect. Your circumstances sound less than ideal; I purposely created mine.
I suppose each way-- tightly wound and not, I mean-- has advantages. It's easier to command obedience, if not respect, the way I do things . . . but yours certainly sounds more fun.

[ shes absolutely welcome to ask him, though. for all nishitani doesn't want majima "to be sad" its pretty much his normal state and now that theyve all fucked, he's happy to share.

What can I say, dudes just fall ta their feet ta join families like ours!
no subject
[She's informed about an awful lot of things, but not this.]
What's the difference between a family and a clan? You told me you were the chairman of the . . . Kijin clan, wasn't it?

[ Is that really all...? Probably, tbh. ]

There's a bit of silence after that, as Rosalind categorizes that bit of information, but soon:]
But you eventually--
[Wait. That's not right, is it? It's not as if either of them have told her their life stories, but she's heard enough bits and pieces to know that isn't entirely correct.]
. . . why weren't you?
no subject
[ he's quiet for a moment, and then there's a tonal shift. what he'd said just now had been serious. important. but when he speaks again, his tone is that same light I Definitely Dont Care About Anything tone he usually uses. ] Ah, that's when he cut my eye out. An' then they gave me back to my boss Shimano. [ majima laughs, cold and short ] He wasn't too happy about my behavior.
He kicked me out of the family an' erased my name from the books. I'd betrayed them, after all. Shimano-han tortured me for awhile an' then handed me to his oath brother, Sagawa, down in Sotenbori. Had to work like a civilian for a year. Be all straight laced an' shit.

[ Nishitani doesn't punch him, but he does pull him close and bite his ear. Don't dogs usually respond to this kind of treatment? Um. ]
Shimano's a fuckin' asshole, anyway. That fucker Shibata's the one who shoulda been down in the hole for that shit.
no subject
[Oh, man, listen to how cold her voice has gotten. It's not that Rosalind ever really cares all that much about betrayal specifically, but she likes these boys, and that hits a sore spot with her.]
What happened to Shimano?
no subject
He died. Everyone dies.
no subject
Least ya got Kiryu an' yer bro, yeah? Sounds like things're startin' ta look up, before ya got pulled here.
no subject
[She offers that, and then adds after Nishitani:]
And given you and Saejima made it out of that . . . I should think that a very happy ending.
no subject
but they're both right -- he's got saejima back. ]
Yeah, that's true! I guess it's still kinda weird for me, ya know? I spent so long checkin' the paper every day ta see if he'd been executed, it still doesn't feel real.
[ not that it matters now, when he's certain he's going to die. ]
no subject
Ain't all bad shit, eh? Sometimes ya get lucky.
[ And, even though Ros said not to, Nishitani gropes Majima just a little because come on. ]
no subject
In more ways than one.
There's only fourteen left, now.
[It's not that she's delusional, or even optimistic. But there's only five people left to die, and she's starting to think that perhaps there's a chance they might just make it out alive.]
no subject
[ now??? of all times?? hes busy contemplating death ]
Could start takin' bets, if ya want.
no subject
Who d'ya think is gonna bite it this week? My bet's on more kids killin' kids. We got enough shit ta deal with at our age, who the fuck's got time ta kill over some dumb fuckin' secret?
no subject
Mahiro, I think. Nothing to do with the motive, everything to do with the fact he has a short temper and there's only a few left. I imagine he'll attack to prevent himself from being one of the five killed.
[Which, frankly, isn't such a bad plan.]

[ Some people don't kill again. Some people kill again... a lot. ]
