Week 6

Sunday - Thursday

Another week of misfortune has passed by and while the end result is that there won't be any issues to anyone's existence being altered for the worst, it doesn't mean anyone's celebrating. If anything, the stressful machinations of the recent trial would require some of you to have someone champion some sort of recuperation amongst you in an attempt to relieve the strain. Whether or not its entirely successful in doing so is up to each individual. After all, there are some of you who are naturally able to endure more than others.

There's not even much time for that before the dawn of the next week is upon the castle. As it comes, everything seems quiet, which is understandable, considering that five lives were lost in the previous week.

Of course, the next best thing to focus on would be what's been newly revealed within the castle. It'll help most of you get your mind off of the current situation to an extent—distractions have a way of making that possible. Presuming, by chance, you do find yourself taking a peek at the sakura tree, you'll notice that the buds have started to finally open up. Is it time for spring at last? If so, you might find yourself wishing that the season would suddenly find itself on hold.

[ Nishitani bats his eyelashes, looking completely guilty -- I mean, innocent. ]

Who d'ya think is gonna bite it this week? My bet's on more kids killin' kids. We got enough shit ta deal with at our age, who the fuck's got time ta kill over some dumb fuckin' secret?

Nothing particularly interesting, I'm afraid. The liquor cabinet key, as Nishitani-san has guessed, and three bedroom keys.

[She kinda sighs at the last part. Oh the perks of roommates dying... or so.]

Alright, so whatever this key opens it's not in the library. If it turns out that this key was a red herring to get us to waste our time, I suppose the Sage played it well.

[This is slightly sickening, but . . .]

Mahiro, I think. Nothing to do with the motive, everything to do with the fact he has a short temper and there's only a few left. I imagine he'll attack to prevent himself from being one of the five killed.

[Which, frankly, isn't such a bad plan.]

[Yes, sure Majima can be contrived about this if he wants to, Misora will be skeptical one way or another.]

No more than usual, Majima-san.

[Which is to say, "a lot" is really pushing it.]

I didn't say I found them.

[ he shrugs - except i mean, she knows he found the one he showed her before so. obviously at least one of them came from the music room, as he indicated to her in their last meeting ]

Ya jus' seem awfully unsurprised by the battle shit. Was it Teishu who told ya, then?

[Alright fine, be coy Majima!!

But in all seriousness, as far as she's concerned what she knows isn't a secret.]

No, it was the Sage who told me about it. You remember that note I showed you from the infirmary? I asked the Sage about it and he told me -- reluctantly and with great sadness, I might add -- that the man who wrote it was his comrade. A person who perished in battle.

[ at least she's forthcoming - a highly hypocritical standard - but he relaxes nonetheless and for her troubles gives her info in kind. ]

Yeah, he usedta have an active role on the battlefield with his unit. They followed him, totally fuckin' devoted.

[She wonders how much arm twisting on Majima's part that it took to get the Sage to divulge that, but that's a less important detail. Frowning slightly, she does nod in agreement there.]

The Sage spoke of him in glowing terms. Apparently, he was kind, forgiving and looked out for others. I think the irony that is his utter failure to follow in his friend's footsteps may be a little lost on him.

[But then again, maybe not... though this time, she pauses to see what Majima has to say about it.]

[Misora holds back the response in her head. It did Tiki no good to become familiar with vicious concepts like hell and punishment after death, or to ruminate on what exactly death by corruption did to a person's soul. These are all thoughts best kept to herself.]

...I can't argue with you there, I suppose. [She forces a bit of a half-hearted smile.] I guess what I wanted to know was if there was any way that we could help them. If there's a way to bring them back.

[She, too, glances at the sink. It remains steadfastly silent and non-bubbly. She sighs.]

Maybe instead of asking them if they're okay, I should ask you, huh?

[gyakusatsu]

[.... Ahhhhh. Comprehension sets in as Misora approaches. Part of her thinks this is probably a good thing for everyone's sanity (sorry, Tiki), but she does think the timing could've been a little less shitty.]

Can I take a look?

[She holds out her hand.]

[holy shit, Tiki's smiling again and for that matter so is Misora, so thank you Mako for being a miracle worker?? NOthing's really changed of course -- people are still dead and they're still trapped in a dangerous murder castle, but this takes a weight off her shoulders that she hadn't consciously realized was that heavy.]

I wonder if he heard us after all, Tiki-chan.

[divertimento]

You're not the only one who feels that way, Tiki. [He gives a resigned sigh, glancing worriedly at the room.]

I think it's just something to be expected in a castle, though. Not that anything here is normal, but if anything, I guess I'm just surprised that wasn't open when we first got here.

Haha. I guess that's true enough...

[He turns his attention toward the offerings.]

So these are from you, then? Are these the kinds of things you normally offer to the gods where you're from?

[divertimento]

[He hangs his head.]

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Hiyono...

Dunno. If it's related to some type of magic, maybe this one's weaker, and they need more of it to equal out to the others?

[Elliot holds up his hands to dismiss the thought.]

No worries. If what the Sage is trying to hold over us this week is any indication, we've all got our demons.

And you're right. The past is the past. I'm not about to judge you for that.

[His head jerks up slightly at the sound of a voice, and he turns around.]

Oh, hey! [He seems cheery enough, although how much of that is forced is always in question.] No worries, I'm just about wrapped up here, anyway.

S'not a church, but I figure Aidios'll understand I gotta make do somehow, y'know?

[ That depends, how long are you watching to see if anything happens? ]

I'm...not sure that we are in the sky...

[which, like, sounds way stupider than it should, but]

Before, I was talking with Kiki [kizakura. please just use the man's name tiki he doesn't deserve this] before about how maybe the reason new parts of the castle just...appear is because it's magic to make an illusion. Stairs look like a wall or the castle's outside looks like an empty sky...

[She allows herself a moment to get all up in Misora's personal space so she can point at a part of what she's written down.]

Hide truth behind clouds and waves. Maybe something else looks like clouds instead.

Uh-huh. [Tiki hands the cellular bananular phone over, looking a little hopeful—Misora's a wise and responsible grown-up, maybe she can fix it?? but also for poor sleepover buddy hanyuu's sake maybe she should not]

[Library]

[Once again, there is new reading material in the library. However, unlike last week, the papers have been left at a low height and very obviously sticking out from between books. So low, in fact, that Tiki will have an easy time seeing and picking them out, should she wish.

Look, everyone needs a little lighthearted reading material every now and then. As for Hiyono, she can be found pulling out romance novels to read while she pretends not to notice anyone who takes a look.]

[Wishing Pool]

[Eventually it's time for the weekly wishing pool visit. She heads on over with her rabbit backpack, tossing in some coins and retrieving the items that come flying out. The tantou in particular catches her eye...]

More weapons... Although this one's a little late, isn't it?

[What with. The armory being a thing.]

[maddogs]

[ majima smiles at her comment, just barely, but there all the same. it's a good deal better, in his estimation, than a lot of the theories he'd heard yesterday. ]

'course he doesn't see it. His army all thought he was the same way. He probably think he's a fuckin' swell guy - an' who are we ta tell him otherwise?

CAN'T BE STOPPED!!!!!

[presomnia]

[okay. well. Tiki has largely been avoiding Zero because she tried to kill a lady but. she can't...not notice everything going on here...... um.

she passes by. pauses. takes another shuffling half-step forward. ppppauses. lingers near the doorway and decides that no, even if she doesn't like Zero, this is a lot.]

...Excuse me? [peeeeeers in from the edge of the doorway] What are you doing?

[presomnia]

[Tiki only takes a seat after Hiyono does, which is the opposite of how this is supposed to work when you're a princess, and fidgets with the edge of her dress in her lap.]

It's just that there's a place like this at home. It's where the divine dragon tribe's treasures are kept, and humans use it as a place of worship for my parent sometimes...

[parent, singular. you'd think that's a typo but no]

I haven't been there in a very long time, though.

[presomnia]

Bring them...back...?

[She says it a little distantly, looking up at Misora and then towards the sink again. Her face scrunches up some—Misora, Tiki has decided after watching her for this long, is smart and reliable enough not to lie to her, but she can't quite wrap her head around the idea of bringing the dead back to life.

The next question makes her sigh, though, and one hand falls from the counter as she slumps.]

Uh-uh. [at least she's honest...] I don't know how anyone could be.

Pond-kun, or: You gave Nishitani A BEAR TRAP?

[ So the rest of the stuff he's gotten is pretty normal. Getting another box of cigarettes? That's sweet. Getting a whip? Useful for certain things, you know. Getting a fucking bear trap, though, that's... ridiculous. And you know Nishitani is enough of an asshole to consider using this thing. He's actually trying to work it open. ]

Hey, can ya gimme a hand with this? Think it might take some teamwork!

[ Teamwork shouldn't be wasted on a literal bear trap, Nishitani. ]

Library, later

[ Nishitani's at the library, having a smoke. Please feel free to tell him smoking indoors isn't a thing. He's from the 80s. That aside, he's not wearing his usual suit. Instead, he's wearing his new jacket with a fuzzy collar, and he seems to be toying with the friendship bracelet while he turns the pages on his book. He's acting his age for once. How rare. Feel free to bother him, he's probably reading mermaid smut to be honest. ]
